I didn't see the first series, so a couple of questions
Was the first series ok?
Is it likely I can follow the story not knowing what happened last series?

Go and read some articles about it or something.
Guardian piece.
Line of Duty series 1 episode by episode
It's unlikely anyone on here has seen any of Series 2, so can answer whether you need to see series 1, to 'get it'
I'm guessing no, that would just restrict possible new viewer, but like any continuing series it'll probably take a new comer a while before the get 'into' the style of program or buy 'into' the world they've created.
I'll say this much, like Luther it's 'stylised' i.e. it's not reality, it's set in a world running slightly at parallel to our own, you'll have to buy into it/give it some artistic license if series 1 is anything to go by.
I'm still not sure what the point was of series 1, even now.
I tuned in mostly because of Lennie James.
Ah that reminds me the BBC show with the character 'Gatehouse' Jay Ratten and Kiersten Wareing's bum in jeans, running, I've forgotten the name now, I wonder if that one is coming back?
BIB
Its the same for this series, corrupt cops being investigated. particularly those in senior positions and its a fantastic show, i recommend you get the DVD OP, well worth a watch, gritty and hard.
@ OP, you should be able to follow it. It's a new cop being investigated played by Keeley Hawes.
I know what Jed Mecurio said it was supposed to be about.
Now I think about series 1 and how that turned out and considering Lennie James isn't in, I might not bother.
I don't think any of the names I've heard are involved in series 2 have enough to pull me through a second series.
Apparently series 1 was the biggest thing on BBC 2 for years.
It just depends on whether Keeley Hawes can carry something as much as Lennie James and I doubt she can!
The Shadow Line. and Gatehouse (Stephen Rea) was a mesmerising character, Jay Wratten was teetering on the edge of sanity, and yes, Kiersten Wareing's bum in jeans, running was a sight to behold for any man. Can't see it returning as it seemed to have been all wrapped up.
Really looking forward to Line of Duty though. One of the standout dramas from last year. I can't forget the scene in the warehouse featuring a vice and a pair of boltcutters though.
Well that's personal preference but I enjoyed it. Bit far fetched sometimes mind
Most likely yes. Each series is supposed to tell a different story, a different investigation of a different copper so should be easy enough to pick up
Had a little hunt about for Shadow Line news, another series was talked about, but it lost so many viewers it wasn't going to happen.
Lots of 'fun' scenes in Shadow Line, I could do with seeing again.
Hey ho back to the res.
I'll look forward to watching
All I can say is that DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW.;-);-)
IMHO the forums/twitter etc will be very busy about 10pm
The first series was absolutely brilliant imho - one of the best new series the BBC have done in ages.
Lennie James knocked it out the park with his performance (you really didn't know whether to love him or hate him) and the rest of the cast were decent as well. It was also pretty violent in some instances.
They did hint that there was a wider story arc at the end of the first series but it might only be touched upon in series 2 or it might be the main focus of series 2 ...
I liked both shows, but couldn't understand why Line of Duty was a hit and the Shadow Line wasn't, especially when Stephen Rea was so good in the latter.
The Officer (Lennie James) from the first series got killed at the end didn't he?
Yep Lennie committed suicide, walked in front of a truck.
Right I missed the first 6 minutes or so what's gone on previous to the female copper getting a grilling in the hospital?
She was escorting a witness who was in protection and their convey got ambushed.
Everyone shot and the car set on fire. 2 Cops escaped the car but were on fire.
Of course it is. It's TV drama. If it was realistic then they'd be spending most of the time sitting around drinking tea.
Good stuff so far. Just shows you don't need to go to Denmark or Sweden for good drama.
Well it was safe bet that you were going to get more of the same, given the success of the first series, turn it in if it's too 'out there'
I found Luther too much after a couple of episodes and turned it in.
I'm intrigued at the moment, see where this goes, as I'm not sure who's the shady copper in this series.
If the other series is anything to go by, there's a fair bit more artistic license to come.
