what are reasons for speed dropping drastically during hours of 6pm-12am? is this trafficsense or just congestion? I have 2 bars, will having more bars fix this issue?
happens to me as well, early morning its like 14mb down, then at 7pm to around 11-12 its barely 1mb, i get full reception mast is just around corner, hope when 4g is activated in area solves this
I'm in Dudley it says very good service but no update I've tried 2 different three sims nothing works , no LTE option in settings either, I have the galaxy s3 I9350 LTE version .

I presume this is the Samsung brand phone. If I remember you need to connect your phone to a PC/Mac with Samsung Kies Software running and do the firmware update from that. Hopefully after that you will see the LTE option.

Tried that and nothing no update I've also searched with the phone update and that says no updates available.
Same again. I have a Sony xperia sp, put my EE or another network sim in and LTE option is there but put my Three sim in and it disappears. Getting an iPhone 5 so hopefully 4G will show on that.
You could use Flashtools to change the ROM in your SP to enable the menu if you don't want to wait. Just look for a UK or EU generic ROM. You might find it says LTE instead of 4G but that's about it.
Look on Xda-developers for a FTF file, which will be an official ROM from Sony.

I have an iPhone 5s unlocked from Apple and still no sign of 4g.
I've also tried the sim in my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 but just seems to be 3G. The display at top of Tab 3 just shows H or H+. Can anyone confirm whether the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 would display 4G or LTE?

Just everybody getting home from work and doing speed tests is the likely causes.:D

people saying they still don't have 4G yet, it could be that you're actually not in a 4G area despite what the coverage checker says. A lot of my area isn't covered by 4G even though it says indoors and outdoors.
I'm activated as I can use 4G at work, but not at home even though the coverage checker says I've got good reception indoors and outdoors.
I'm sceptical over everyone's IMSI being enabled. I have a Note 3 bought on a contract direct from 3 and live and work around Central and West London in areas that are mostly solid 4g. Even just connected my phone using Kies and I'm on the latest firmware. Yet still no sign of 4g.

OT but went to Guys hospital in London today. My dad, who has giffgaff, was struggling to get a signal. However on Three I had rock solid full signal everywhere on H+ with 8mb up and 2mb down. Was very impressed with Three

I'm not 100% convinced as to the accuracy of the maps either - it's relatively accurate for my office (claims it's on the edge of 4G outdoor coverage, in practice I get nothing), but here in Reading, I'm in an "outdoor/indoor" area and I'm struggling to get one bar of 4G vs a belting 3G signal. I have to force the phone onto LTE to make it stay there.
I'm also very unimpressed with the tethering performance.

The One Plan 12 Month SIM Only, thats my plan
I tried speedtest app on my phone, no tethering and it had around 200-300k speeds, it was around 2.5mb/s today around 1pm ( I was tethering then )

Will this deffo work Jon?
100%
However be aware you're flashing a new ROM. It's similar to doing a factory reset except that it'll void your warranty as well.
So make sure you know what you're doing/are aware of the risks.
But tbh I'd just wait for the software update/account enabling.
Ok thanks fellas. Will have a think about it

Are you in a 4G area?

The coverage checker is not reliable.
Still no 4G setting tho.

Don't know about the Tab 3 but my Galaxy Note 3 shows LTE
Aww cute kitty

Woah woah woah.... hold up a second there! Don't upload too much otherwise you'll hit your limited data cap.... oh wait....
Well I have a IPad air with a 3 sIm inside it and the iPad is displaying a 4G symbol
Next to it is a nexus 5 from 3 and is NOT displaying a 4G symbol
Should I be worried !??????
No. But it's annoying! 4G was switched on here today and neither me or the Mrs with Nexus 5's have it.
Have you tried putting your 4G ipad sim in your nexus 5 ?.
