Like others Im also very happy with Fed this year. Hes very close to #1 in the Race.
Im just worried he will get tired soon. That being said, he's still very fit, and hopefully he can keep it up
He is a lot fitter this year. Last year he had back problems and it showed, but things seem to have improved on that front. I would absolutely love for him to win another slam

I hope he will keep this form to Wimbledon at least. It would be great for him to get another win there. It's kind of weird for me to want him to do well, as if he isn't the most successful Tennis player ever lol.
Thanks mate, it is getting quite bizarre. I have defended Shortie before and said she can have an opinion like everyone else, but here taking my comments about Nadal personally when she has insulting Andy and Novak, who she is supposedly a fan of. It's hypocritical. I have disagreed with posters on here and told them why I thought so, but it's never anything personal against them.
I have strong opinions about Rafa and if his fans don't like that, they should go on a fan site as I said. Why be so defensive? It is a discussion board and I am far from the only one who has made negative remarks about him. Funny how people accept opinions when they agree with them. As I said, please don't go on MTF
I mean when someone says they will report you because you say something negative about a tennis player they need perspective, as Cherry Choc said I will post as normal and anyone who doesn't like it should ignore it.
I have decided that from now on I'm not going to bite. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion. How about from now we don't over react to each other. I don't take your opinion on Nadal personally. Its the comments on us fans that I take personally. I also don't insult Novak. Don't make things up. I don't even insult Andy much. You dont know that im not a fan of Novak. How many times do i need to tell you I am before you finally believe me. If Rafa is my fave then Novak is my second fave. Just like me you like Novak and Roger then I like both.
The only way I'm being defensive is when you tell me im wring last week for talking about he draw but I challenge you this week and m wrong.
I have absolutely no problem with you and will continue to reply to you if you reply to me. I got perspective and I know there's more to life. I hope things between us are okay. It has come across as personal at times as I feel like I'm not allowed an opinion but from now on let's just agree to disagree and write in and comment on each others post if needs be.
BIB - I agree. 2011 was the best clay season Muzza's ever had and the BH was much more dangerous. He was playing very well outside slams, Lendl came in and he contributed mental strength and a positive mindset in slam finals.
From the end of 2012 (this was when he injured his back, I believe) Murray's won Wimbledon but his tennis has become too passive. Results outside slams have not been good enough.
Definitely.
In 2011 he pushed Nadal and Djokovic to 3 sets iirc in clay masters and gave Rafa a very good match at the French. Straight sets flattered Rafa a little, all sets were very close and Murray outplayed him for periods of that encounter.
Won Queens, had a stellar Wimbledon but came up against Rafa who he bossed for the first set and a half, missed an open court forehand and the wheels came off. As you say Lendl really helped in the mental strength aspect.
The latter end of 2011 he was on fire, didn't he bagel Rafa in a match?
All in all, I think he was better in 2011 than 2012 and 2013. In 2012 he had a horrible clay season, woeful IW, Cinci and Queens and even at Wimbledon he was very shaky in a few of the matches, way too passive v baghdatis and Ferrer and was lucky he got Tsonga in the semis. Interestingly the final was probably his best match, Lendl factor again? Had it stayed outdoors who knows.
At USO, despite the fact he won this tournament, it probably still contained some of his worst slam performances funnily enough, although Raonic was his best performance ever I think. Showed super mental strength in final and used conditions to his advantage.
2013, aside from W'don, was one to forget in a way. Although he won Queens (skipping FO was a major contributing factor there's no doubt) and Miami and did well at AO, the rest of the season was injury hampered really.
I do agree Lendl has brought great mental strength and he'll be missed but my point is Murray was probably playing better tennis overall before he arrived, so I don't think it'll be detrimental or anything. There's a fair bit of overreaction going on all over the net I think.
Left out Olympics in 2012. While Murray was outstanding throughout, I put it more down to the fact it was more a one-off special occasion at his home olympics. Murray has never been as consistently aggressive since

You say this pretty much ever time as well. Time to actually start acting upon it now.

I think in 2011, Murray began to knuckle down as he realised he needed to I suppose. I feel Lendl added help to the mental side of things, giving him that added belief that he could win slams
Last year I feel was hit and miss for him. Maybe it was time to end it.
Over-reaction is a way of life though. It happens in football a lot. A team loses badly and its the end of the world or if a team wins it means they will win everything. Look at Man U and Man City as examples. Its the same here. Murray has no form really at the minute so he's easy pickings and the Lendl decision is another thing to hit him with.
You say this pretty much ever time as well. Time to actually start acting upon it now.
Which I am going to do. Im as fed up with it all as you are. Sometimes it extremely hard though but from now on i'll only reply to her posts if I feel the need to and any anti-Nadal stuff or attacks on his fans (which she's very prone to both), I ignore. im bored of it. I feel like ive been repeating myself for weeks now and your above post makes it more obvious to me that your as fed up with as I am. Maybe she shouldn't post stuff like that anymore but if she does I refuse to bite.

Murray was great in 2011, but unfortunately other people had standout years. It's like Nadal. If it wasn't for Djoker 2.0, he could have had his best ever year. It happens sometimes.
Murray pushed both of them on clay and then handed Nadal a bagel in Tokyo, but his mental strength still failed slightly at times. The Wimbledon semi is a good example of that, one missed shot and he went to pieces! I think crowds really getting behind him, like at the Olympics and Wimbledon 2013, gives him a huge boost. Often he didn't seem to feel that loved by the crowd, even though they wanted him to beat everyone bar Roger.
shame for Heather and Kyle...but i have to ask why did kyle did get a wildcard into Miami?
my main focus is on my fav lleyton today.from atp..." Hewitt will be bidding for his 600th career win when he takes on Haase today. If the 33-year-old can clinch victory, he will become the third active player to win 600 matches, joining Federer (942) and Nadal (675)."
this will be a pretty great achievement and I'm hoping it goes well for him today:p

You didn't leave much else out though! Very impressive memory!
I'm not Murray's biggest fan but as a Djokovic fan I thought Andy was a better player and more threatening opponent before his most successful years which doesn't really make sense.
If it was just mental strength that Lendl brought, then hopefully Andy will be able to draw on it again when needed. I personally never saw their partnership as a long term thing. I agree with most though that the timing seems odd.

Bernard Tomic lost the shortest ATP match ever earlier today to Jarko Nieminen, 6-0 6-1 in 28 minutes and 20 seconds. Likely he was rusty but an embarrassing record to have nonetheless .

Oh dear God! Didn't even know Tomic was back.
Sharapova gets the win against Nara. Safarova up next, who can always be pretty dangerous.
Murray haters out in force on other blogs this morning.
Usual rubbish which I won't quote but it does get tiresome.
Why can't people just wish somebody well?

On the other hand, you have the Wimbledon semi against Nadal...one missed forehand and he falls apart. Very frustrating.
Donna Vekic and Borna Coric are young Croats based in the UK, aren't they? So indirectly their success is good for British tennis...ha, I'm clutching at straws now

I imagine Nieminen's had tougher practice sessions. BT came back far, far too soon after his hip surgery.
I think he turned up in Miami for a few reasons - prize money, to avoid a ranking penalty and to take in the Miami nightlife. *rolleyes*
The fans deserve a refund after that pathetic display, and it should come out of BT's pocket.

Yes, I feel a bit sorry for Andy here I must admit. I've never liked Lendl anyway. I remember when he was playing tennis got a bit boring. Andy's game could benefit from a different input right now so this cloud might turn out to have a silver lining. Might take a while to get the right person in place. Wonder who that will be.

Sounds like Andy really didn't want this split. I sort of feel Lendl got what he wanted out of this partnership [higher profile for his academy etc] and decided he didn't need Andy anymore. I wish he could have given it a bit longer through the FO and Wimbledon.
I heard about this on the radio. I didn't know the previous record was held by Rusedski.
