So that brings us up to around 83. I would say at least another 60 odd people were done above this, of course on the 100th House party there trick a few people again.
Jim Bowen was another and I think Jean Boht and Patsy Palmer too. I'm sure the early ones involved more local news reader/continuity announcer type people rather than household names.
Anyone think this would be a good category on Pointless? There are those that everyone remembers such DLT, Eddie Large and Lionel Blair and there are lesser known ones too.
Only just noticed this thread, but a while back I attempted to make a list of Gotcha victims with transmission dates. I don't have the names for the first two series of the Saturday Roadshow, though I recall that Gloria Hunniford was the first ever recipient, so the list starts with Series 3, then it's on with the House Party.
If no name is listed, then either there was no Gotcha shown that week, or the recipient's name didn't appear in Radio Times.

The Mike Reid one was excellent. I loved his line: "I wanna get out of here as I have another job in August". Then when he started laughing through his re-take about the chicken. It was a testament to what a nice man he was that even though he was in a rush and was getting more and more frustrated he was still willing to sign the autographs.
Does anyone have any episodes of Noels House Party that they could send me, ones that aren't online, I have some from the 98-99 run if you want to swap!
Post 100th episode it was the beginning of the end as so many changes were made which weren't really needed
The show was chugging along nicely as it was but someone saw fit to implement changes and it was downhill from there
I don't think it was quite as simple as that.
Certainly by the mid '90s, even though the show was still in its imperial phase ratings were beginning to tail off for no other reason that viewers were beginning to tire of it - which is something that befalls even the best entertainment programmes once they've been on for a few years.
Seemingly the BBC decided that they needed to freshen up the show and make changes to arrest the ratings slide, but unfortunately most of the new ideas were dreadful and just succeeded in taking the show downhill.
Ultimately, I've always thought that the main reason for NHP's decline - and possibly the main reason it's not remembered with affection - is that the BBC kept it on the air at least two years too long.
So True, out went the decent looking set, and the original music, Grab a grand etc. and of course wait till I get you home.
I wonder who was to blame for the changes?
I think a number of the key producers in the early years of the show moved to high-level positions in the BBC's entertainment department and were replaced by people who weren't up to the task.
That was certainly the case with Michael Leggo, who I think was NHP's executive producer and chief inspiration for the first few series.
Chris Evans got one when he was the "guest" on NTV - must have been just after Big Breakfast started, as he was still married to Carol McGiffin at the time
They tried to do him again years later when the show was in decline - and he filmed them filming him, and put it out on TFI Friday.

Most likely it was broadcast on 20/02/93, if it was done live you could not say in advance.

I think Will Carling received a Gotcha during that series, because it was the series where they used Mr Blobby for the first time, and he referred to the rugby ball as a "Blobby ball".

Yes, looks like Will Carling was the Gotcha recipient on 23/01/93; Kate O'Mara who I have on the list for that date was in fact one of the guests at the door.

"Certainly by the mid '90s, even though the show was still in its imperial phase ratings were beginning to tail off for no other reason that viewers were beginning to tire of it - "
However it hasn't stopped Ant and Dec ripping off almost every idea from the show... except thankfully Mr Blobby.
I used to enjoy the Golden Egg Awards on the Late Late breakfast show

Yeah it was crap
Allegedly Edmondo was really reluctant and unhappy about doing that show
I heard it was this and the Florida special which mainly caused him to storm out over xmas 97/98. He does seem to know his stuff.

I think a number of the key producers in the early years of the show moved to high-level positions in the BBC's entertainment department and were replaced by people who weren't up to the task.
That was certainly the case with Michael Leggo, who I think was NHP's executive producer and chief inspiration for the first few series.
The first person was Gloria Hunniford

They tried to do him again years later when the show was in decline - and he filmed them filming him, and put it out on TFI Friday.
Most likely it was broadcast on 20/02/93, if it was done live you could not say in advance.

However it hasn't stopped Ant and Dec ripping off almost every idea from the show... except thankfully Mr Blobby.
I used to enjoy the Golden Egg Awards on the Late Late breakfast show
