Parental / societal / communal brainwashing. A lack of education / initiative / courage. Sheer fear / bloody minedness / can't be arsed to think about or research alternative answers to the 'big questions'.
My religion is the forward slash, hallelujah praise the key directly to the left of the right hand shift key.
i reckon that the majority of people 'in' a religion are so because they were born into a family that practised it. its not easy after being brought up as a jew, muslim, christian, to change.
so i think their religion is 'the right one' because its what they were told. its part of their identity.
Coming soon no doubt. There'll be booths in most town centres subsidised by Atheist International. For as little as ten quid you can get all your silly old beliefs washed clean away.
I don't attend church, I don't pray, I was never taught anything religious, I was never taught that God existed, etc and yet, I come from a religious background.
My families' religions are the socio-religious-philosophical type. I don't see how I can determine it's the "right" one when it's always been part of my background. It's influenced my ethics, values, morals and outlook to such an extent that I don't think about it at all.
I suspect this applies to everyone else as well. Even atheists. Centuries' worth of religion can be found in our legal system, names, school history, traditions, customs, national holidays and such.
So I think the question should be rephrased to something like "Do you actively follow a religion you were born into? What makes you think it's the right one?"

to be fair, why does he need to start a thread whilst there are plenty on the subject/s he likes that he contributes too?
There isn't really the need for him to, is there?
I just go for the most popular:p:p:p
But what makes you sure it's the right one?
It is a belief.
That does not make anything certain.
Your parents told you so?
Ah you've noticed ulster guy now.
And how do you know the one you picked to comment on is the right one?
God told me, of course

You are rather interesting. I've never noticed any other poster start so many threads on something they dislike so much. It's a bit like brainwashing.
Because I believe in Jesus.
I dont there is such a thing as a "correct" religion
Culture + history + family + education/further self exploration = soup
Best start off with a proper definition of religion, or, dont bother

Any answer would only be ridiculed on here
The concept of "faith" clearly lost on you then ..
