I agree. This is the main reason I stopped watching.
No character development with any of the characters really, but Tony is the one that annoys me most.

Promo for S11 looks interesting - but then the fact it's already been announced that the character won't be killed off negates any tension or peril they might put her in.

I caught the first episode of Season 11. They've obviously decided to try and build some tension by not having her in the first one. It started off pretty well but petered out by the end.

I'll watch the 2nd part next week but i'm still not interested in watching beyond that.

Just watched the 2nd episode of the two parter. Meh ..

They eventually resolved the cliffhanger from S10 right at the end of the episode.

That's me done with NCIS ..

Is it true that Mark Harmon refused to film any scenes with Cota after the way she quit ?

Haven't heard that rumour - can't see it to be honest.

Y, 10 series (and therefore 10 years) in, and they haven't developed any of the characters much at all.

Apart from Jimmy getting married, you would have thought more would have happened. Seems they want to keep the Abby/McGee ship going, so they can't put them together, or have them getting serious with anyone else.

The same with the Ziva/Tony ship...

Edit: Although I've got used to actors etc leaving shows. 7 or 8 years is long enough on any job... problem is when you have fans of a character, there's no easy way to do it without people getting upset.

Thanks , it did seem weird but somebody I think on imdb said that's why they did not have a proper good bye as he was disgusted with her behaviour as it affected all of them when she upped and quit without warning .

Harmon did certainly fall out with Donald Bellisario however, which led to him leaving running the show.

I don't think she "up and quit" though. They were in negotiations with her and, according to Leslie Moonves from CBS, they offered her "a lot of money" and "then a lot more money" and she decided she didn't want to come back.

There was a lot of talk on the blind items site in the US about why she left and that she said she'd never reveal publically her reason for walking.

Hhmmm .. this interview with David McCallum suggests all was not well over her departure.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/s164/ncis/news/a548935/ncis-star-david-mccallum-frustrated-angry-over-cote-de-pablo-exit.html
"It was frustration and anger that someone should just walk out on us," said McCallum, who plays Donald 'Ducky' Mallard.

"I just don't understand how a leading lady in a show that's worldwide, who ostensibly wants to have a career as an actress, suddenly walks away from such a gem and just vanishes a couple of days before we start production."

    also ..
The veteran star revealed to DS that de Pablo's sudden departure forced the NCIS writers to revise the first five episodes of season 11.

"This business is merciless so right away the whole team of writers gets in and rewrites the first five shows," he explained.

The old 'don't shit on your own doorstep' seems to have applied here. If she was having an affair with DB and it came out she may well have not been able to face the whole scandal.

I'm presuming Don Bellisario - which seems unlikely for a couple of reasons, mainly because he's married to Sean Murray's mum, which would make things a wee bit awkward on set :o

That would explain the strong reaction if it came out. I'll see if I can find the original blind.

It's well into Season 11 now (UL pace) and I still think the show lacks something with Ziva gone - whatever the reason for her leaving was. The new girl 'Bishop' for me has no personality and brings nothing to the table. She should have an affair with Palmer so they both get kicked out the job (and the show).

Will there be a season 12? Possibly someone in US will know the answer to that.

With the ratings it gets NCIS is going nowhere soon. Already renewed I believe.

CBS have already renewed. It's their top rating drama, but beaten by three of their comedies though. For dramas NCIS:LA and Criminal Minds are very close together for 2nd place.

I didn't think I'd like it without Ziva in the show (I didn't watch it before she was in the show, although have caught up on the earlier episodes since). But I've actually found I've been really enjoying this series, partly because it feels like it's back to more 'stand alone' episodes, if that makes sense? Still with the odd running storyline, but...I don't know, can't explain my thoughts, I just like it at the moment!

I'm glad to hear that, because despite my criticism of "Bishop" I still like the show. Maybe they'll bring in a couple of new characters to spice things up a bit!
