On the contrary. I know the story very well and was expecting anything but 'fluffy'.

Joss Merlyn was an absolute pig of a man. I saw none of that in the person who played his part. None of the characters were right.

As for being dark, I realise there was then no electricity, but I expect to at least make out what's going on in the gloom.

It was a poor effort all round and I'm giving it a miss tonight.

Well said. And what really pees me off is the Beeb treats us like idiots with their 'explanations' I have such utter disrespect for them all.

Hooray Ben Daniels diction is crystal clear.

That's because he is the only true actor in this mess.

This forum is the only thing keeping me going. I think I'm particularly angry because I'd been so looking forward to seeing it.
The ITV drama last night on Tommy Cooper was so very much better all round... acting, casting, script (superb) - everything. It comes to something when their drama is light years ahead of the BBC

Yes! It is a bit 'arty' in Cornwall.

The man with lady Sybil is the second worse mumbler after the man who plays joss - who,by the way is a terrifically Sh!t actor

They'll definitely need subtitles and a translation booklet.

This is the epitome of the trend for actors to breath out a line of dialogue instead of actually speaking it. Im not sure why they do this, I think its quite an American thing, I think they think it comes across as dramatic, but it just comes across as affected and over the top.
