OK, so 'Jamaica Inn' has been poorly received, but I've seen a lot of affection in the thread for du Maurier's books. Which ones would you like to see adapted? Feel free to include ideas about casting!
I'll go first: My Cousin Rachel. It's a very evocative book and quite suspenseful. I'll have to give some thoughts to casting, though...

It is indeed. There was a pretty poor adaptation of it in 1997 with Charles Dance and Emilia Fox, though.
Oh, good idea. Some of her short stories have been adapted in the past with great success. The Blue Lenses would be great, as would Monte Verita (my favourite), Don't Look Now and The Apple Tree.
Yep. But the Hitchcock version was so great that I think it would be silly to try it again (and if you didn't like that, there's two TV versions to choose from). It's a great story but it's quite simple and straightforward.
True - it was a great film. But there was some elements in the short story that didn't make it to the film, and I always thought the sex scene was unnecessary. I'm not a prude in the least, but it always felt very ... gratuitous.
Du Maurier has a lot of stories (books and short tales) set in Italy and she always provides such wonderful descriptions. Lots of them would be very cinematic.
I'd settle for them releasing the 70s version on DVD or even it getting repeated. I understand there's some copyright issues with the music used in it that are holding it back. It's a damn shame, as it's as good as the Hitchcock movie.
I just can't help hoping the heroine gets her act together and dumps Maxim; I have similar feelings about Jane Eyre
The sex scenes may have been gratituous but they were excellently performed. ;-)
Well, you know the rumours about that scene...
No I never but can guess what they were.
It's never been filmed.

That would adapt well, providing the writer stuck to the dark storyline and didn't tinker with the ending. The film starred Richard Burton but I don't remember seeing a TV version.
That was utterly dreadful! They tried to sex it up with bedroom scenes. The 1979 version was far better, with Emilia Fox's mum, Joanna David, Jeremy Brett and Anna Massey as a superbly sinister Mrs Danvers.
One of my favourite short stories is Split Second - fascinating concept.
I think The King's General about the civil war might film well and I agree with woot-whoo that My Cousin Rachel would be interesting to see.
