I think a bigger jury with a mix of industry and non-industry people are needed, and the 1-12 system should come back. Because at least if you're going to top the televote in a country, then at least the points will reflect that.
Those comments made my eyes water, what kind of backwards views do these people have?
'Totally sick b'stard'
'The pictures of her/him make me feel quite sick'
'Nutters all of them..Needs sectioning'
'Freakishness is the new natural'
This country isn't always as liberal as it pretends to be.
I honesty cannot even begin to understand the issue If someone is not hurting anyone else in any way, then what is the issue? it's just so stupid. I actually just pity people like that. They must lead such awful lives filled with hate.
Besides, Ireland sent a lady with a beard 1992, and no one said a thing ;-);-);-)

I purposely avoid the comments section because it's where reactionary bigots go to die
Try and take comfort from the fact that, by and large, Express readers still believe Princess Diana is alive and well living in a secret moonbase with Madeline McCann and the passengers of MH370
Part of me thinks it should be 10 in a jury and 50/50 of music professionals and general public.
What a load of old sh*t. Too prissy and lacking any sense of humour is her problem.
All the women placed it last? Yawnx1000000 at that.
It's funny that she says 'there was no attention paid to the song' when that is exactly what the jury did, decided it was disgusting and ignored the song.

shame full comments, I never bothered reading the the scums's comments on the bottom , just the article. Id rather have a million of Conchita/Tom than any one those morons.
I have a friends who is trans down the west country and only a few weeks back she was attacked on the bus going to work. Cops were very good but it was verbal rather than physical and they could'nt do much. >:(

Think they lost the plot of what it was actually saying. I loved the video. How could you not love it. So funny.
So anyone pulled out of next years yet? Not seen anything.
No, there's always a few rumours early on that come to nothing. Greece and Romania always bleat on about being unable to afford it but are invariably there!
The only country I think there is a serious risk of withdrawal is is France but would they really want to miss the 60th considering they were there at the very first one?
Surely Georgia will be suspended next year? That is, if what is being reported is true, that their juries votes were identical. Ola Sand said himself in one of the first press conferences in Copenhagen that he'd be doing this for cheaters.
I'm going to go down a slightly whimsical route and suggest that we get André´Previn to compose our entry next year. Europe loved Andrew Lloyd Webber, they might love Previn even more!
Failing that, we might be in with a semi-realistic shot of getting Julian Lloyd Webber. The poor man can't play the cello any more , but I read some article saying that he was still going to remain active in the music industry. His brother's done Eurovision, so he might be willing to compose a cello-based piece.
If we then get someone from BBC Introducing to perform it, then we could do well. After all, Jade wasn't dissimilar to a BBC Introducing artist, surely?
The best way to get decent people to write decent entries is to play down the 'win or failure' idea. It reminds me of a Song For Europe: there have been some very good entries which have never been heard of again after failing to win. The very nature of a contest means that twenty-five world-class musicians with world-class songs could take part. Only one would win, and somebody would come at the bottom. Even that lowest-rated song could be a masterpiece if the quality of the contest was high enough.
I reckon Raphaella from BBC Introducing would be a great successor to Molly. It's way too early to say anything , but she's written songs for NFs before so knows her Eurovision. But it's a long way off before any of that, yet.

But the general public already has their say in televote, so that doesn't make any sense imo...
Hmm, and just this year everyone was making a point of how young the juries are...
This.
Each jury should have a large number of jurors each one specialising in a different area of music or performance, with a wide age range represented. Eurovision has started to include such diverse styles that we need a jury capable of assessing the merits of an opera song as well as an ethnic song. Eurovision is related so strongly to performance these days that an understanding of how well the set has been used, and whether it complements a song or merely disguises a weak entry is crucial. I think a jury should rank each song, but decide collectively. That way, the specialist in whichever field of music the song falls into could guide the others. Otherwise you run the risk of people trying to critique music which they know nothing about.

That's a great shout! What's she written for NFs before? She'd be a very good entry, she's got a quite distinctive, almost jazzy-type voice, bit Duffy/Dusty-ish. I'd be very pleased with that
Side note: it shows the success of our new approach domestically that we're even talking about these names instead of Petula Clark, Barrowman, or worst of all, J*s*n D*n*v*n etc. Long may it continue
Well, if the Contest wants to continue to revert to its old status as a music and performance contest, then he surely has little choice. Some countries are building up a reputation for corruption, why bother keeping them in the show? The show coped without corrupt countries in its infancy, so why not now?
I wouldn't mind it if the top 15 of televoting and jury voting would count rather than the full 26. Would stop people like Laura using it to make her political statements rather than voting on the song, while also lowering the power of cheating juries and lowering diaspora a bit more than the old 50/50 voting.

In my opinion, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Montenegro and possible Georgia (since I don't believe there is an official word on Georgia) need to be suspended. The first 2 have clearly fixed their results in an attempt to disadvantage the contest favourites and each other. It's just totally unacceptable - they don't even try to hide it. And Montenegro's jury votes are pretty much identical to each other.
For some reason, I can't see anything being done about Azerbaijan, Armenia and Montenegro, though.

Well, I think that was her way of saying she didn't rate Poland's song very highly, as a song...

Le Bon added, "I'm glad #Austria won #Eurovision. Here's to beardy chicks the world over. Yas (wife Yasmin Le Bon) probably won't shave today."

She might not be right to judge the competition
Firstly, thanks EU.TV for providing easy Excel download of the data! Yay, easy analysis.
Secondly, the UK game 10 (count 'em) points to Lithuania in the 2nd Semi Final!!! erm....
