Oh well. Good game. England gave made a good attempt at the chase after a poor start. We really need to learn to put on runs at the start of an innings.

Sets it up nicely for the final match.

Well at least it was a good match after the various w/overs. Think the nerves got to us a bit when we became faves to win.

everytime i see Butler he plays a great innings and he's doing it again.

You must only get to watch about one in every 10 or 20 games then ;-)

Indeed it does. Fingers crossed the weather stays dry (latest forecast is 16c with 20% chance of rain)

buttler made a slow start to his ODI career but if you look from the start of the ODI series against Australia last September til now hes averaging 51 with a s/r of 130 , that's over 18 games

The match was lost in that period where Root and Ballance were plodding along at 3/4 an over. We can't get away with going 2 hours without a boundary, and our whole mindset needs to change. Too many orthodox batsmen in the top order, get Hales in at very least.

Buttler needs to go into the Test team, that knock was reminiscent of KP or Flintoff at their very best.

Oh and that WASP thing is crap. Relying on what the commentators think to predict it FFS :D

At one stage WASP was saying England had a 1% chance of victory. By that same logic the bookies would have them at 100/1 to win. Did they ? Of course not.

WASP stands for What A Stupid Prediction

At the start of the game when they do the initial prediction that is supposedly based on the commentator's/experts opinions, all the forecasts have been 100% in line with what the bookies/spread firms are calling.
.....wonder where Both and his pals do their research.....:)

The % of winning forecast seems to be made up as they go along....

it's an irritating nonsense, and should be done away with. Adds nothing.

What I can't work out is why they don't have the D/L score in the corner of the screen during the 2nd innings. It would give a far more accurate appraisal of the current state of the game. The players and umpires seem to have it scribbled on a bit of paper so it must be available

Only thing I can think of is it must be a rights issue

They said today that only one commentator was asked and that was Andrew Strauss. He went for 260

    I heard that

Strange coincidence that the fixed odds bookies were quoting over/under 255 and the spread firms 250-260

To a point I agree, but neither can they be attempting to smash the ball out of the ground either. If 10-2 becomes 40-4 its almost certainly game over, and arguably England should have won the game in the end anyway. There has to be some patience if quick wickets are lost.

Historically we have relied on the ;'Trott type' just to get past 200.

    Easier said than done.

New round of county games just got underway and Sussex are fielding with Prior behind the stumps.
Last chance for him to prove his fitness before the side is announced for the 1st Test

one of the guys on CWOTV this morning was suggesting that kieswetter is in front of buttler for the test spot , really cant understand that , its not like kieswetter is any great shakes with the gloves and I know which one of the two I would trust more with the bat

I know kieswetter played in front of buttler as keeper when both played for somerset but that was supposedly as much because of how much better an outfielder buttler was rather than much between them behind the stumps
