If you have a NowTV box you might be able to cobble together a link from the AV out on the back of the box to a SCART or Composite Video/Stereo Audio input on the DVD recorder.

One thing you will not be able to do is use the HDMI output.

If you have a TV with NowTV built in that may be a bit more hassle. If the TV has one or more SCARTs wired for output you might be able to get a signal out of that to the recorder. However a lot of TVs only output whatever channel the Freeview tuner is set to via SCART so that could throw the proverbial tool into the mix.

Many thanks for your reply. I'm thinking about buying a NOW TV box, provided that I am able to record to DVD (for personal use - there is a documentary being streamed at the moment that I would love to keep).

What type of connection is the AV out on the box?

    Thanks again.

It's a four pole 3.5mm jack socket. You need a four pole jack plug to three phono socket lead to connect to the recorder. One phono will be video and the other two stereo audio (left and right)

By convention the phonos are coloured yellow for video, red for right audio and white for left audio. However not all leads are wired the same, which seems to catch out a few NowTV users from what I've read on the interweb.

So you may have to experiment a bit by trying the yellow plug in the video input of the recorder (leave the other two plugs disconnected for now) and see if you get a picture. If not unplug it and try the red, if that does not work try the white. Once you have identified the video connector plug the other two into the audio sockets. If the video is not on the yellow you may have to do a few listening tests to determine which is left audio and which right.

If your DVD recorder does not have AV phono inputs but has scart input you can buy a simple adaptor. You can also buy the right phono lead from sky now TV site for £5 inc delivery.

It won't work for two reasons (1) The content is copy protected (2) the output from nowtv is ntsc, don't waste your time or money.

    1. not all programs are copy protected - trial and error
    2. most modern dvd recorders/tv can handle NTSC.

Then how come if you do a spot of googling you can find plenty of people who are quite happily recording NowTV?
