well, I'm very bored by it all.

What was my SOR of the night was Sally's lasagne. Since when did a home made lasagne go uneaten and even if it did, since when did a homemade lasgne just slip out the dish into the bin without leaving more than a greasy smear. Every lasagne I've ever made or seen has burnt on crusty bits around the edgs. humpf.

Ahh, one of the classic soap cliches...jilted characters scraping perfectly good meals into the bin and never think of reheating it later like any sane person would do.

The last thing the hospital would do is tell a group of waiting people in a corridor the patient has died.
A nurse would escort them to a family room.

The police would ask who next of kin was and contact them, no way would that be left in the air.

Is it just me or did anyone think Rita's acting was awful?

No it isn't and yes, it was awful. ;-)

I am dreading the funeral.:cry: Rita will be in overdrive.

The whole thing was awful. Rita was OTT. Would people tina lived on the same street as really be in ITC and be told she was dead before her next of kin? Would it really be up to Rita to decide whether or not to call Tina's mother? And why did Rita refer to Tina's mother as Anne when her name is Anna? Did Corrie think they'd change it because there's another Anna in the prog?

Corrie is really taking the p out of their viewers.

It used to be the recommended course of action to place something hard in the mouth of someone having a fit.

I can recall doing it as instructed back in the early 80's when someone was having a major fit.
I'm surprised at that in the early 80s. That was when I did my first training and was told that was no longer recommended as, although they might bite their tongue, forcing something hard in their mouths could break their jaw which was far more serious.

I thought Rita's reaction was realistic; how would you feel if someone you were close to and was like a daughter to you had been murdered and you'd been told in hospital they've died? Presumably either they meant for Rita to not remember Tina's mother's name properly because she's disappeared for so long or the scriptwriters genuinely forgot as I did myself.

It was very bad. I am surprised that the Director allowed the scene to stand

Sorry will, I don't agree, her acting in recent months has been awful but this was pathetic. I have been in that situation many times and witnessed it many times but to me, it was unrealistic.. The only part I thought was good is when she hugged David, now that was a genuine reaction.

    I thought that too

Her mother should have been contacted before any one

    Totally

I wish people on here would stop slagging off Rita, the actress is 80 and is in almost every episode, so it must be hard going for someone her age. As for her crying scenes, I have always thought Rita "a good cryer", sometimes in the past her crying scenes have looked real to me, especially years ago during the Len Fairclough and Alan Bradley years, suppose those who are slagging her off are too young to remember that time, they just see her as an annoying old woman. Rita has always been one of my favourite characters, and she does well for her age

I respect your views but I don't agree, Rita no longer acts the part for me.
You like her, that's fine but we all have different opinions.
I have been a fan of corrie more years than I like to admit and have always liked Rita but I just think she is not the same anymore. It's become more obvious to me at least in the last two tears.

I don't think Rob offed Tina because of her threats, I think he did it in a rage over Carla and the way Peter and Tina hurt her. Carla is his sister and he is very protective of her, so when Miss Gobshite kept on goading him, he lost it and killed her.

Didn't think too much of Rita's acting, but I was mesmerised by her wig, was she wearing it back to front???

As a younger viewer (22) I just wanted to pop in to say that I like Rita. It's true that the actress can over-act sometimes, but that's pretty common with soap actors in general and on the whole I think she does a good job and I find her character to be quite believable.

Yes, either the hospital or the police would have sought to contact Tina's next of kin as soon as she was admitted to A & E.....it's debatable whether Rita and David would even have been allowed in to see her.

It was 81 or possibly 82.

Much of what I find wrong with Rita is what I find wrong with a number of Corrie characters. It's been ridiculous that Rita would be at the hospital, be told of Tina's death rather than her next of kin and be the one who decides that they ought to ring Tina's mother. Tina's mother has probably been left out until now so that Rita could take centre-stage. How ridiculous. Although she was a bit OTT, the main problem is Corrie with their unbelievable scripts/SLs.

I just hope they don't let Rita take control of the funeral arrangements and be chief mourner.

    This. ^^

All done so that Rita could take centre-stage? Were Rita and David there all day every day? Why would Rita & David do that? Are they both on compassionate leave?

Did you laugh when we heard Tina coming round?
    Oooh........Aaargh........
    Oooh........Aaargh........
    Oooh........Aaargh........

The script might have said it but as if people actually say that!

    We joined in!

This reminded me of the old Round the Horne radio sketch:

Kenneth Horne: And now the amazing performing camel!
    Audience: ooooo ..........aaaaah...............ooooo................aaaaah...........ooooo.........yeuk
Kenneth Horne: I do wish the camel wouldn't do that.

I like Rita too, and I very much dislike the way some posters (not on this thread usually) think it's all right to use age as an insult. But I did think she overacted here, and this was emphasised by the contrast to Peter who got it right imo. So much so that having found him dreadfully self-pitying and annoying, I felt sorry for him.

    What a humiliating exit.

Murdered to keep silence about dodgy hairdryers.

Oh Michelle Keegan, you got on my wick at times but you deserved better than that. :D

Tina didn't die because of the hairdryers. When Rob initially thought she'd died from the accidental fall he was distraught and was actually relieved to see that she was still alive.

Tina died because when she came about from the fall she threatened not only to report Rob's dodgy dealings, but to frame him for her fall so he could go down for attempted murder.

Both of which he could have gotten out of though. He could have dumped all the dodgy gear from the shop and it would be Tina's word against his as to how she happened to fall from the balcony.
