The C1, pug107, any Toyota Aygo are amoung the most fuel efficient petrol cars out there, or indeed any any car-inc diesels.
In many ways I see them as the spiritual successor to the original mini. I drove a special edition C1 'code a few years ago and was quite impressed. Even though it's only a 1.0 petrol engine, it was nicer to drive than the original shape yaris (also fitted with a 1.0 petrol engine).
I think the only thing that puts this trio in the shade is the much newer city car trio from vag (vw up, seat mii, skoda Citigo).

Good choice of car from the replies in the threads there. Low insurance and seem pretty reliable as well as not too bad depreciation
Yes, another to add to the list....I prefer the Toyota version, but they are essentially the same car.
When you get more experienced then consider getting a more luxury car.
