    Because it turned out to only contain her husband's porn supply...more dodgy was what went on with the notebooks

    Cameron's apology should be minutes away. If he leaves it too long he's blown it.

    The longer this went on the more convinced I was that Rebekah would either be cleared or see a much less severe punishment than the rest. I guess she could return to News International now if she wanted to. I'm sure Rupert would have her back.

    If he is going to apologise surely he should wait until we have verdicts on all the charges Coulson faces ?

    And of course if the jury is still deliberating tomorrow then that should stop the subject being raised at PMQs, no ?

    If I were Cameron I would probably issue a statement apologising for his poor judgement when selecting a Director of Communications.....
    Just in case the Daily Telegraph suddenly realise that they do after all have a tape of Craig Oliver's phone calls about Maria Miller and Leveson.

    I don't think he has to admit to that level of culpability. implicit within that is that he should have assumed the guy was guilty.

    apologise for hiring him, apologise for believing him, but a PM should never, ever, apologise for poor judgement, his judgement is the reason we hire him.

    Great. Now the press are going to make Brooks out to be a misunderstood, wrongly vilified saint, while throwing Coulson under the bus even moreso than they were already doing.

    Cameron just needs to draw a line under the whole sorry mess. Admit it's now clear he had been lied to when he asked questions of Coulson, apologise for allowing it to happen and move on.

    the most telling issue would be asking for the normal vetting procedures for someone in that position to be waived and they later turn out to have been guilty of criminal acts

    So there is just the one fall guy in this whole case!

    Nobody knew anything or did anything wrong, apart from poor old Andy Coulson.
