Even though we have since had a British champion who surely deserves his name to be dedicated to this little piece of land??
I think the Centre Court will be renamed in Andy's honour eventually. It would be a shame to leave Tim with nothing so probably best just to leave him with his little patch of grass.

Ha ha....
Henmans commentary is as boring as his play in the day.

Just wait until Andy is past his playing days and some bright spark at the BBC thinks HE would make a great commentator!!!!! The BBC will never learn that good players do NOT normally make the best commentators.
You will think back fondly to Tim! (who, on second thoughts, will still be there!!!!!)

It's the same with football. They think getting big name ex-players in will do the job. Even worse is when they try to offset those with "down to earth" players who were jouney men thinking they'll have different views - like Robbie Savage.
No BBC/ITV. Get in a player and give them a screen test to see if they're good infront of a camera and can talk without spouting bollocks!

Yeah, why would a Wimbledon champion have an unofficial named piece of land named after him anyway?
It was the fans who named it Henman Hill. It's swapped between that and Murray Mound for a few years.
Its really should be called the poor hill for these who can't afford Centre Court
There are layers upon layers of snobbery once you get WITHIN Centre Court!!! The Debenture Holders are the ones with money - and can look down on the Public tickets. The AELTC Members might not have quite this money but they can look down from their elevated social status on the Debentures.

They can afford to go into Centre Court if only they could get their hands on a ticket!!
Henman Hill was so called in the early years after the new Number 1 court opened in 1997. With the new court came the hill and the large television screen where it was an ideal location for the public to watch the action.
As Tim was GB's only hope during those years why not call it Henman Hill? It's no detriment to Andy that we don't call it after him. It's just lucky tim's name was Henman and lucky they created the Hill eh!!

Andy's a great champion. But Tim deserves far more respect than he receives on tennis forums.
Henman was a high class performer even if he wasn't a champion or could not overcome Sampras at Wimbledon.
People talk as though Henman was at fault for Sampras for winning as many as 7 Wimbledon titles as though Becker, Agassi and Ivanisevich would have stopped Sampras in his tracks if they faced Sampras in the semis instead of Henman which is complete nonsense.
Christ! Henman was involved in some great epics in the early days of the new viewing area where the old court 1 was. Christening pieces of land to certain players should not always depend on whether or not they have already become the champion or will soon become the champion. Tim sparked great interest over his years of participation in the tournament. So what if he never became the Wimbledon champion.
The big viewing area where the old court 1 was is far more attractive than the monstrosity of the old court spectator stands.
Just for info, as Henman Hill is not where the old number 1 court was situated.
The old court one is now the huge players area where you see the balcony overlooking court 3 (which used to be the old court 2), the media centre is beyond the players area, after which you get to Henman Hill which is situated in the Aorangi Park area.
Wimbledon has developed so much over the past 20 years, they are so much more advanced than any of the other GS venues. Kudos to Wimbledon!
Does annoy me a little when people slag Henman off, OK he hasnt won two Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold like Murray has, but he has reached Grand Slam semi finals (and not just at Wimbledon) and won a Masters event, not many British players have done both those things. Hardly "rubbish".

That is what I would class as a high class tennis player indeed.
Other than Henman there was nothing else to shout about in terms of British tennis at the time.
Murray is a great champion but Henman should not be forgotten. For there to have been a high class tennis player in Tim followed by a great champion in Andy is as good as it will ever get for British tennis fans. And neither Tim or Andy were a product of the LTA. We should cherish Andy and Tim previously because things will never be anywhere near this good again in terms of British tennis once Andy retires.
This reminds me that one DS member, can't think who it was now, was caught up in the middle of the big 'flash mob' on Henman Hill at the Olympic tennis.......:o
Officially it's the Aorangi Terrace, but if its Wikipedia Article calls it Henman Hill, Henman Hill it is! Other names have indeed been Rusedski Ridge and Murrayfield, but my personal favourite has to be Robson Green.
On Google Maps it's known as Murray Mound, and has been since he won Wimbledon.
I've called it Murray Mound since Henman retired. And will always call it Murray Mound. Surely as he won Wimbledon he deserves something at the club named after him!
I suppose some people persist in using Henman Hill cos he's posh and English and Andy isn't.
And of course Henman failed at Wimbledon. A very English man's thing to do!

Didnt they go through a phase of calling it Murray Field (ha) too even back then?
Murray Mound. Sounds a bit porno so they stopped.
Because that was the original nickname. Do you go and on looking for another piece of snappy alliteration every time a quality player comes along?

Then the Royal Box tops the lot!
It's become synonymous for people cheering on Tim back in the day I think it's fair to permanently name it after him.

Never underestimate the power of something having a new and original name sticking long after it's lost its meaning.

It's actually called Aorangi Terrace which is a rubbish name. People visiting the ground for the first time might get confused looking for it.
