Do you think any successful band or artist doesn't have a signature tune?

You know a BIG song that they will always be associated with over any other.

You could argue

Michael Jackson - Thriller
Madonna - Like a Virgin
Britney - Baby One More Time
Oasis - Wonderwall
Take That - Back for Good
Spice Girls - Wannabe
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

What band or artist doesn't have one song that stands above all the rest?

If they were to have one I would argue "She Loves You"

I'd say Hey Jude for the Beatles, Satisfaction for the Rolling Stones and You Really Got Me for the Kinks.

Yeah a tricky, even though most people several songs. I'd go with 'Hey Jude', everyone at some point does the 'na na na na' bit, and it's used in those T mobile adverts.

I'd go with YRGMG it's the one most know without even knowing The Kinks.

Isn't it better for career longevity not to be associated with a single song?

The Beatles simply had too many to narrow down to one. However the fact that John Lennon is so closely identified with imagine shows how patchy his solo career was.

Does Pink really have a signature song? She has several bigger hits, but I wouldn't say she has one as obvious as some of the ones already listed.

I'd say Madonna. Like A Virgin, Like A Prayer and Hung Up are all up there, but I couldn't pick one that is her signature tune.

    Neil Young

I do love a Neil Young. The mans a genius. But surely Heart of gold is his signature tune. As for the Beatles, I'd say Help.

I'd say Umbrella. You can't forget how big that song was considering Rihanna wasn't that big before then. 10 weeks at number one in the UK and it's definitely the first song I think of when Rihanna is mentioned. Her career exploded after that.
