After his first-half sexism it might not be too long before they do.
A dinosaur, referring to a Swiss player needing to "put his skirt on", or whatever it was. For your info, Lawro, the England women's team have reached the quarter-finals of the past two world cups, which is better than the men have achieved, and they were finalists in the women's Euro's in 2009, which is better than the men have ever done.
He's ok when he's in the studio, but when he's co-commentating his sneering delivery and general ambience of sounding like he doesn't want to be there hardly endears him to viewers. It would be one thing if he'd ever actually played in a major tournament and had some of the "having been there" credibility of the other pundits, but Ireland's international success seemed to occur almost immediately after he stopped playing for them.
Or not confirmed! Where did these picks come from? It seems strange a few people posted them at the same time yet they've obviously proved to be wrong.
Someone posted a link on the ratings thread. They were on the BBC website at one point.
That would at least explain your apparent hatred for all things ITV. Of course anyone who bought shares in e.g. early 2010 might hold a different view.
5 years ago today the share price was 35p; today it is £1.79 a return of 511% so yes its a terrible investment lol
BBC clearly had some insider info about Murray's physical shape and knew he'd get thrashed today so they were happy to get France v Germany ;-)
Indeed, the Beeb were geniuses for hedging their bets and going for Germany v France. Murray has won his Wimbledon, the pressure's off, he won't be winning any more. Mark it down.
BBC v Itv: World Cup Ratings War - average ratings after Round of 16 stage:
BBC - 5.2m/34pct
Itv - 4.5m/29pct
BBC hold onto their 5 share point lead heading into the Quarter Final stages. The BBC won the Round of 16 stage in the ratings with an average of 5.8m/35pct compared to Itv's 5.5m/31pct, despite showing only one primetime game! Proof once again of the BBC's ratings power due to their superior weekly reach.

To be fair once we saw the end of England's chances ITV were never going to get anywhere near BBC and we all know come the Final ITV will once again get slaughtered.

Just find this dull, you adding this every day.
ITV are doing a great job in my opinion and all my friends, colleagues and family agree.
Could not care less what channel its on, having the two makes it all a better end enjoyable experience.
No idea what the percent figure is all about, is that your rating of how you think they are doing.

It's not even adjusted to reflect the extra half hour build up on itv in the afternoons. It's just garbage, but at least it keeps him occupied I suppose.

I assume you mean Belgium v USA, but Brazil v Chile & Argentina v Switzerland finished between 7-8pm. How can that possibly not be classed as "primetime"?
The 3 biggest lapses have been on bbc so far. The Phil Neville monotone, Pearce having a brain fart over goal line technology and refusing to admit his error and yesterday Lawrensons descent into 1970s sexist commentary.

The extra half hour buildup maybe would add a couple share points to Itv's avg but theyd still be losing. Just look at the primetime ratings, bbc has slaughtered Itv this year besides the england game.

Itv defines primetime as 7-10.30pm. Most of the BBC's games started at 5pm and were over by about 7.40pm - so only about 40mins of almost 180mins was in primetime. Its fair to say ther 5pm slot was inferior to the 9pm slot.
We also hear nothing about the bbc2 highlights ratings. Presumably because they are not setting the Barb charts on fire and therefore need to be hidden away. certainly GMBs improving share suggests the bbc2 show has been poorly watched.

That's the one where he just didn't wait for the 2nd incident when the ball WAS over the line and went off on one over the original shot hitting the post.

Looked quite clearly over in real play TBH...
It was more his refusal to admit he was wrong and even bringing it up on his next live game that made it laughable

Tell me, have to ask, are you a BBC employer or something along those lines? you seem to come across as not liking ITV at all.

But casinoman, it was a 0.3 million ratings win in the RATINGS WAR for BBC in the round of 16. A 0.3 million ratings win! In fact I'm surprised ITV are ever going to show football again after that 'crushing loss'.
To be honest I do think only SamuelW cares about this 'ratings war' really - I doubt any of us care and that either BBC or ITV will be distraught with their figures whether the other gets more or not. And I don't exactly see what SamuelW is trying to prove with this 'ratings war' stuff (same with Gazza1992 and his ITV 'boycott')
We've had 2 rest days and this thread has disappeared onto page 2 in the a broadcasting forum! Sort it out Blatter, come on guy.
Anyway, there was an interesting short chat about the coverage on BBC, ITV and ESPN on Colin Murray's talksport show this morning, around 11.45am if anyone wants to listen on the website. They agreed that Danny Murphy was amongst the standout performers so far and explained Robbie Savage's role as 'fan like us but with a little bit more insight'.

I reckon they would have tried to have Murray on at 1 had he gone through..

Itv have the rights to the 3rd place playoff
That will help them in the ratings war that night.
