These dinosaurs hate David Luiz don't they? No nothing fools.
The commentary was atrocious today "Moan, Moan, Whine, Sarky Remark, Moan
And I normally criticise referees a lot and even I thought Lawro and Pearce were overdoing it today with their vendetta against the assistant ref - I don't see why they were criticising him so much. It Both have been awful this World Cup.
And on the Luiz point, again I'm not his biggest fan but the BBC really are not fans of him are they? They're the same with Mertesacker too actually - I'm biased as an Arsenal fan but it seems no German match can go without someone at the BBC slagging off Mertesacker or going on about his lack of pace. It's lazy analysis plain and simple - and usually 'the old boys club' pundits who do it.
In fact I thought an all-round poor effort from the BBC today. The punditry was cliched pre-match, the commentary was awful and I don't see why BBC Sport (and this isn't just the football guys but other sports too) are obsessed with doing these faux-arty 'epic' VT's these days - just get to the point.
And that Dan Walker half-time piece just screamed filler to me - and like it was just used to get that famous Christ The Redeemer statue on TV as much as possible.
Sorry to moan but I'm enjoying the BBC coverage less as the World Cup goes on.
I'll hopefully prefer ITV's coverage later tonight - even if Clive refuses to pronounce James Rodriguez's name correctly.
The most bizarre moment for me was when Pearce was getting all flustered about Boateng crossing the halfway line: 'CAN HE AFFORD TO BE THIS FAR FORWARD? WILL HE
LEAVE GERMANY EXPOSED?' Then Lawrenson pointed out another player would just fill in and a minute later Pearce was moaning about the lack of defenders crossing the halfway in this tournament...
Wasn't the best game by Lawro or Pearce, I blame Pearce for dragging Lawro down to his depressive pits, it sounded like whenever Lawro tried to get into his full flow, Pearce would interject with some negative viewpoint, it sounded like Pearce was frustrated with the tournament overall, maybe because he missed such a large chunk of the Premiership for MOTD, he thought the World cup would allow him to shine again, however he has been poor.

He doesn't need any help from Pearce to sound depressed that's for sure.
I am surprised by Jonathan Pearce's below-par performances during the tournament. He normally comes across better over the live 90 minutes rather than chopped-down shouty highlights on MOTD. I thought he was good on the European coverage on BT the past season and was looking forward to him continuing that form this summer.
Unfortunately he has allowed himself to be distracted by other things; FIFA, officials, 'politics', rather than concentrate on a great football tournament. Of course his co-commentators have on occasion been a hinderence but he must be used to that by now. I don't know how someone of his experience could let himself down so badly on such a great stage, with him being such an 'anorak' (endearingly meant) you'd think he would be bang up for this.

It's no different to them acting as if the sun shines out of Ronaldo and Messi's arses, yet no-one complains about that.
I also like Lawrenson and Pearce. I do agree about the VT's though. Sky are the worst for that.
Pearce was absolutely atrocious. He made some bloody awful calls (offsides, throw ins and corners) yet spent the time lambasting the official. The Ozil '3 yards offside' comment when he was miles onside.
He doesn't seem to understand the role of the assistant referee, some referees ask them not to flag if its clear the referee has seen the incident.
I actually prefer Clive T over Pearce. He's over opinionated and mouthy but worst of all he's incompetent
Comments
"Both assistants have been very poor" - I've only seen one mistake so far
Now he's criticising FIFA again.
Is it the BBC making them bland with bland commentary?

just on the lines that he is used for their European games now so perhaps they will then use him for group games and perhaps Europa games?
Just my thought as to who may fill the commentary roles.

Oh I don't know about that.
I think both have been flawed but decent on the whole

Fingers crossed.
I'd hope Lawro goes the way of Hansen.

That's just a plain lie Samuel. The pundits are using Hamez, as is Chiles. It's only Tyldesley who persists.
That's quite disrespectful. They know the pronounciation is Hamez so I dunno why they refuse to acknowledge that.
No, Chiles is using Hamez. He said that as a joke and probably to cover Tyldesley's back. To say they have "refused to acknowledge" is a plain lie.
Funny how you chime up and pounce on that, but fail to give any comment to the BBC's earlier game which was slated by many.
