    Interestingly, from the latest Forbes lists, she earned more than Rog on court (suggested as being down to equal or near equal pay at the Slams) but only half as much in endorsements (think these were both for 2012/2013).

    Men;

    Women;

    Yes, never ceases to amaze me that people go on about Maria's endorsements, when Roger's dwarfs her and he's not winning much. Could change tomorrow obviously. She won more prestigeous Tournaments last year than Roger really.

    Maria should do a bit better next year, because that money doesn't count her French Open win and all the bonuses that come with that, and of course she only played once from now until the end of the year last year. So she'll be kept from the poor-house.

    Yet she'll still be way behind the ultimate corporate machine, Roger.

    Seems it is a bit of an arduous task to get anywhere near the cyclists. However the sight today of the riders climbing a mountain and all the spectators out to cheer them on was a sight to behold.

    It's exciting for the UK though to have it start in Yorkshire.

    Remember it coming to London several years back, they were advertising it all over the city and they had an exhibition of sorts in in the Trocodero. It was summer but I remember looking around there on a very wet day, and everyone was coming in soaked!!

    I love cycling and follow the pro stuff very loosely and the huge crowds today are an indication of the sports popularity since the Brailsford era took shape.

    But cycling is so different to tennis at the recreational level as people cycling to work instead of by car is included in participation figures and while that's fine, for tennis, it's a difficult sport to play recreationally at a basic level and with all the other issues about poor public facilities and standards driven clubs with snooty committees etc, never mind all those issues I talk about on here about how junior development works (or doesn't), it's far more difficult to build the sport at a recreational level.

    The Yorkshire Dales looked fantastic from the helicopters.

    PS A brilliant book about the pros and doping was Tyler Hamilton's which lifted the lid on Armstrong - a real eye opener about how it was done with EPO and not detected.

    A book which made me ask different questions about how tennis does (or doesn't as some believe) deal with doping / testing etc., especially as just after I read it, Cilic was banned.

    That was quite good fun, and TBH the two decent singles players did beat the Double specialists. Does show if more played they'd no doubt win more.

    It's quite funny in retrospect to hear the gushing commentary about Bouchard before the collapse though.

    They really were ready to anoint the new queen weren't they?

    The red button wasn't showing on BBC2 but I pressed it anyway. It was buffering badly but I got to see the moment they were handed their winners Cups they looked absolutely delighted massive grins. Everyone in the crowd had huge grins too like this :D.
