The naysaying is to be expected, unfortunately. There have been protests but they go under the radar. When this is pointed out excuses do tend to get rolled out to dismiss it. It's a recursive loop the rules of which keep changing so as to prevent any positive recognition of Islam being something that rejects terrorism and rejects violence. One wonders what is expected of Muslims these days, that it is felt Imams speaking out against terrorism is somehow not enough or not really what is wanted?
Change has to start somewhere and I consider this to be an example of change. Now, I don't think anyone can say no Muslims speak out against terrorism publicly. And at least that is a start. As bad as it is that we have to go to such an obvious statement to satisfy the "rules of engagement" that some want us to follow, at least that is a start.

Give it week.
There will be another thread and someone will argue that Muslims never speak out, and round and round it goes.
At least Muslims are prepared to fight for what they believe in. Christians are being killed and kidnapped in Nigeria. How many Christians have left England to fight terrorism in Nigeria? How many Christians have left England to protect Syrian Christians? How many people who support democracy have left England to fight for democracy in Syria or anywhere else?
Assad gases children to death. What are those of you who criticise Muslims doing about that?
During the Spanish Civil war many democrats, socialists and liberals did just that! That was a while ago mind you.
Isn't it funny though, that people are complaining about the supposedly inherent and unique danger of Islam as a religion and an ideology? All this fifth column nonsense is sheer Cold War style paranoia. And as for identifying with their religion above all else, who cares? Some posters believe that nationality should be the sole identifying factor for all of us. That's actually a central tenet of an ideology that is far more threatening than Islam that I believe Britain has quite some trouble with in the past...
Some think I use the term neo-McCarthyism for (failed) comedic affect. The fruits of such intent are becoming painfully clear. The lessons one would think we had learned are being forgotten - or were never learned at all.
When you label all people because of the actions of a few, you become the very thing you think you are speaking out against.
Muslims are very different people all across the world. You couldn't see this more evident than how not all Muslims are going to "jihad" in the Middle East. Pure logic dictates that if we are all indeed radicals, every single Muslim in this planet should be going back to the Middle East to cause death and carnage. And if that were the case, one wonders why those Palestinians bothered to dig a child out of rubble from the recent Israeli bombings. One wonders why the parents of those who went to fight lament the loss of their loved ones. One wonders why I'm even bothering to explain this facet of belief if it was all a lie.

Does it have to be spelled out?
Nice post but really says little.
The Empires are gone.
The Muslim Empire is the only one that remains.
How does a Country chose to stay a Muslim one?
It can't.

Looking around the UK, then the planet in general, I'd say the time for "a start" is long, long in the past.
If we could un-invent religion, the world would be a far, far safer and more peaceful place. Maybe at some point, man will become sufficiently sophisticated to grow out of it.

Oh nice try.
Say what you like about the Nazis*, at least they were prepared to fight for what they believed in... So resorting to violence is now being spun as virtuous?
I think this is a great message to send out, to show that mainstream Islamic beliefs don't condone or support terrorism. It clearly destroys the falsehood that Muslims (and community/senior ones at that) don't openly condemn Islamic terrorism.
Sadly this will probably be forgotten along with all the others the next time some extremist nutjob chooses to spew their hate all over youtube.

And donkeys might fly out my rear end.
It isn't the imans and priests who keep keep coming up with bigger and better ways to make things go boom. There was no religious motivation for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Meanwhile, whilst Muslims are killing muslims left, right and centre in Iraq, which will also have a know on effect here, what we get is a video. Not to say that The video mentioned isn't good, but why, especially because of the risks here, isn't there the same respose?

Guess what, someone did

Christianity, nationalism, imperialism, capitalism etc. have all waged war for as long as they have had any sort of power.

Nil. No chance. At all.
Yes indeed, most deaths are caused by Muslim killing Muslim.
Why? Well we all know why.
Where's that then?
And the Muslim population rises inexorably.

simplistic nonsense. And I speak as an atheist.
