Prison IS the punishment, not a place where punishment can be inflicted by any scum that feels like having a go.
Indeed.
To be honest I find the encouragement of crime by some quite sick. Crime is crime, no matter how it is dressed up. Criminal behavior is not something I applaud nor encourage, I find it quite disgusting.
I'm sure the spitter can take solace in the fact that their crime was slightly less heinous. They can congratulate themselves through their hypocriticism.
No matter what offences prisoners have committed, they are all equally entitled not to be attacked by either officers or other inmates. This just shows what a dreadful state our prisons are in when you consider the problems with violence, drugs etc.
I wonder why the attacker thought he was entitled to administer his own justice too. Harris may be a lowlife, but I would wager that he is no worse than the scumbag doing the attacking. They are all criminals deemed to be worthy of jail time, none are better than others.
Always laugh at cell mates attacking others for crimes, when they have probably done something similar.
Although I have little sympathy for him, I agree with Jo and others. Setting one criminal up as some sort of moral guardian in this is quite bizarre. Both are inside because they committed a criminal act.
Those of you expressing sympathy for this 'poor man' - would you feel the same if Ian Watkins had been spat at in church in the same situation? Or does it depend on who the paedophile is?

I'd think it was unpleasant and not acceptable whoever it was tbh.

If it were Ian Watkins I would have taken no interest in the story.
I've made no secret of continuing to like the work of Rolf Harris and I don't hate the man either.

Must admit I've wondered about the so called 'prisoners code' on occasion, where already serving prisoners, take out their 'frustrations' on other certain inmates, because of the crime done by the other inmate.
The prisons where sex offenders are taken, are they the same locations where murderers etc are taken, as I find both types of crimes aborrent, not one more than the other personally, as both crimes mess lives up in a way?
A murderer shouldn't 'lord it' over a sex offender, as they've both ruined lives.

Most prisons have a protection unit, or protection hall where most lower level sex offenders end up. It's supposed to be better staffed and controlled, with more officers etc. But generally the protection unit isn't just used to house sex offenders, it also houses those who have suffered violence or been threatened in the general population units.
The most serious sex offenders and very violent criminals end up in more specialised prisons, such as Wakefield though.

I happen to like a couple of Lostprophets songs (but because I don't own them in any format, I'll never be able to listen to them again, of course), but that doesn't mean that I care about what happens to Watkins. That doesn't mean that I think it would be right for someone to kill him, just that I wouldn't give too much of a damn, although I would expect that any person who did attack him would be prosecuted.
Comments
A moments silence please[/sombre]
I hope his time in prison is extremely unpleasant.
This
He got away with it for to long, hope he rots in there>:(:(
Are you aware of the implicit irony of your post?
Any crime directed toward him should be treated as such, a crime. I for one treat crime with disdain.

I sincerely condone that happening to scum like RH.
What nothing to say but pick sad :(>:(
I mean it must take a big man to spit at an 84 year old who is unlikely to be able to defend themselves.

Same goes for Harris.
