This thread is sadder than fan fiction. The show is LONG since over. Move on.
So you're here because?
This forum is for discussing TV shows. I find it sadder when people post in places just to insult other people. Go find something you enjoy and spend your time on that.
This! I don't see why it is either, It makes perfect sense to me
I have had a bad day, Actually a bad week.....Even a bad month, Hell i have had a bad year
It is in perfect order
In my mind it is backwards and obviously people can disagree because maybe it just comes down to interpretation rather than it being "wrong".
The way I see it is that it being "your" year is the best, your month next, then your week and if nothing else then at least it's been your day. Whereas the song seems to imply that having a good day is better than having a good year, if you see what I mean. Which it isn't! I see what they're trying to say and can relate to the sentiment, but still in my mind it is the wrong way around.
So to my mind the right way to express the thought is "It hasn't been your year, your month, your week or even your day", which like I said in my last post wouldn't fit so obviously they'd never have had it that way.
(I may have explained that really badly but I hope it makes sense!)
To be honest that's mostly down to me over analysing a silly theme song, but hey, over analysing things is how this thread has gone on for so long!
Edit - it has occurred to me while writing that you can have a good year overall without having many good days, it could come down to one good day which made it "your" year so perhaps thinking about it like that makes more sense than the way I interpret it and maybe that's what is meant by it. I've also now realised just how much thought I've put into this post - a valid form of procrastination I think!
It gradually gets more exaggerated. If it hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year then you still have your friends.
It's saying whether you've had a bad day (minor) or whether you've had a bad year (major) your friends will be there for you.
Yeah that's how I hear it, it's like a summary of the show in a lyric. I've never considered the other interpretation, and while I sort of understand where you're coming from SparklySwede, this is how I've always taken it.
The theme song! Well the one line in the song "It hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year". That is backwards! Of course it wouldn't fit if it was "your year, your month, your week or even your day" but it still irritates me everytime I hear it.
Honestly that's the only thing that genuinely bothers me on any level about Friends. Everything else which has been mentioned I either find amusing or there's a brief passing annoyance lol, but that line in the theme song grates so much. Though I guess it's not exactly a Friends gripe?
Otherwise, I don't like the way the characters changed after around season 5. Especially Monica. Still doesn't bother me as much as that line, but I don't enjoy watching the later seasons as much as the earlier ones.
It's ok , all gripes great and small are welcome here
This thread is sadder than fan fiction. The show is LONG since over. Move on.
Oh cheer up, it's still on TV 14 million times a day , new generations of gripers are being spawned every day , this is a sanctuary for all Friends fans and well wishers, even the non fans to have a little gripe.
A little whinge, a little point, what ever suits us ... Join us ... Do ...
It's compounded in the second to last episode, The One With Rachel's Going Away Party, Phoebe says to Rachel "In 6 months the statute of limitations runs out and I can travel internationally again."
Maybe she got a chance to try and fly a plane but got caught and her passport got revoked?

Now that's my kind of procrastination! Lol
Although i don't agree with your interpretation of the lyrics, I LOVE your explanation
A gripe that I just rememered was something that annoyed me at the time - when Phoebe and Rachel encouraged Joey to spend more time with and subsequently fall for one of his conquests (played by Charlotte from Sex and the City - Kristen Davies??) they got very annoyed with her when she didn't return his feelings and stated that she was just after a fling. Phoebe even goes so far as to call her what I assume is bitch in Italian. But they have watched Joey pull exactly the same behaviour for years but that's OK?? Girl power - not
One more - sorry if I've already posted this (this thread has been going so long I can't remember if I got all my gripes in) but this one really annoyed me too! When Monica caters for her Mothers dinner party she gets very offended when her Mum assumed she'd mess up and produces frozen food to serve after Monica 'pulled a Monica' by dropping a fingernail in the quiches. But in fact her Mum was right - she did screw up! I never understood Monica's OTT reaction, really she should have been apologising, not flouncing off.
How did they switch apartments back so quickly when the guys went to the basketball match, would be impossible.
Joey snoring problem just seemed to come out of nowhere after 4 series.
I though that was easily done because the guys would've been gone for hours. But when you factor in all the belongings out of the bedroom/beds etc it would've taken way too long with just the 2/3 of them.
With Joey's snoring, people start and stop snoring out of nowhere all the time.
The song line is the right way. Things are getting progressively worse, a bad day, seven bad days, 30-31 bad days, 365 bad days... but no matter what, your friends are there for you.
The moving, it's not that implausible. I mean, I don't know how long a game lasts but it's got to be around two hours? They might have left early to get there in time, or to go to a pub or the coffee house first, and they might not have gone straight home from the game.
When my aunt and uncle moved recently it only took a couple of hours, and that was in a second floor apartment. The three women only had to open the two apartment doors and just move things across the hall. They didn't even need boxes.

Actually you're right, it doesn't take that long to move. Which brings me nicely to my next gripe - when Rachel was moving out of Monicas there was a massive fuss because the night before she hadn't packed and the movers would be there by morning. Monica wanted all 6 friends involved to pack up one bedroom, for Rachel who 'doesn't have any stuff'! And it's not as if it mattered if some of her stuff was still at Monicas - not like they'd never see each other again!

And the room was becoming a guest room so not even in use, No need to be totally empty instantly, She could have taken the essentials and picked up clothes etc at another time
I see they are showing the episode that robin williams was in, can anyone explain what the whole scene was meant to be about, because i thought it did not add anything funny.

I'm sure I read some where that it was a lat minute thing and ad-lib scene because him and I want to say Billy Crystal, were around the studios and they thought they'd just do it as a funny scene before the credits

It reminds me of the episode when Monica and Rachel got home from a night out and Phoebe had swapped all the belongings in their bedrooms around.

I remember seeing something alternate to that but I may be mistaking what i saw for a blooper.

Yes, I know it's not real. I think :D

You're kidding right. It takes hours just to move boxes let alone all tat furniture and unpack everything and set everything up properly.

I watched enough to form the opinion that I was not a fan of his work and found him over rated.
