You need to check & see what's slowing it down...........
I had a shock last night when my Antivirus flagged up a threat, and then the lappy screen went black while it dealt with it......which didn't seem to work as no sooner did it finish than the warning flashed up again with the same threat. Then it offered me to ignore the threat but that it would protect my laptop from it and prevent it accessing anything so I chose that, and it's been fine since I have AVG and it has been brilliant at all malware issues so far. Only the free version, but it's good!

Which browser are you using? I've always used free AVG & never had any issues with it. Were you on a dodgy site? Could be some kind of conflict with WD's 8.1!

I was on a very dodgy site.............DS!! :D I use Firefox, but I am sure it is to do with 8.1.....bloody nuisance it is!!

Sounds as if that's where the problem lies, I don't understand why they put these things out without all the bugs & fixes, or in this case (non fixed issues), sorted out! >:(
Kevin was able to pop over on his day off. It's only that damn plastic bracket again. He has replaced it and all seems fine. I didn't get the warning noises this time though. Because of the broken bracket, components overheat which causes the problems I have been having, The PC is old now and Kevin reckons these cheap plastic brackets only last for 12 months.
