He should stick to DJ work, he's no singer. No lyricist either.

He has the right to be an idiot if he wants.

I loved the story about Ukip's festival of colour in Croydon where the steel band buggered off when they learned it was Ukip bash!

It genuinely disturbed me! It carried on playing after I'd closed the page, it was like it had possessed my iPad!

    Any reason you love it?

Presumably it's not the quality of the singing or the lyrics or the musicianship.

I didnt listen to it as I cringe at things like that and Mike Read has always been quite cheesy, but its got to be one of those things that is so bad its good hasnt it!

Just the fact that it's going to wind people up such as guardianists

I hope it gets played a lot.

Do you really think this will wind people up?

It's more likely to make them cringe.

I can only assume Mike Read is having a mental breakdown or something.

He's done a few fairly good items:
The Trainspotters 'High Rise' was a fun punk spoof, 'Grief never grows old' for charity, and the big John Betjeman album with Marc Almond, Gene Pitney and others.
Gone down a bit now though :D

I remember High Rise, probably because he played it the odd time on his show. Really wasn't bad. Unlike this.

Metro has reviewed it as something like: "A few minutes in, you'll be craving the sweet sound of cats having sex."

A song for UKIP sung in a fake Jamaican accent, you can't make it up.

This works on so many levels:

It gets UKIP publicity from the people that genuinely love it and it also works on the 'all publicity is good publicity' angle and it winds up the people UKIP love to taunt.

It reminds me somewhat of Ryanair.

Win, win, win for them really.

Give it time but even this early it's ruffling a few feathers in the politics section :D

What accent would you sing calypso in though?

I think even Marilyn Monroe has a touch of a Caribbean accent in one of her songs, cant remember which one now.

On another matter, surely its time to re release Relax so that it can beat this song to number 1!

(what is the song called by the way?)

Apart from him being a 'celebrity' Bury fan I'm not that keen on him.......radio DJs don't figure very highly on my 'admire-ometer' and I basically know him from when he does the newspaper review on Sky News

I suppose most UKIP members if not voters would think that Mike Read was a trendy young thing........

Ha ha that's pretty bad, made me laugh a little bit though.
Maybe ol Mike could get it to No 1 after all chart manipulation was in it's heyday back when he was a top DJ,so he knows all the tricks.

He works for Radio Berkshire (no pun intended). I think you might be overestimating his skill level!

This has reminded me that there are quite a few songs sung in cod Caribbean accents

    Elton John, 10cc, UB40

    Im sure there's more.

He's no DJ either :D My OH (retired DJ) once called him up on air to correct one of his many false statements.
