NOTHING to eat at all - nothing in the cupboard, nothing in the freezer, family looking out window waiting for food to arrive??
So "let's ring the local paper and I'll pose in front of the computer looking glum"?
I do agree with you on one point though - bring back the "roll eyes" so we can roll them back at you.
Ridiculous story when there are people in real poverty.
But hey, Christmas is coming - get Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to compose a hit single to raise money for them.
i`ve very often got nothing in, i`m not the only one i know like this, not by a long chalk.
maybe all your local rags on here are full of murders, rapes and national scandal but mine`s full of this kind of stuff - someone`s lost a dog, a swan is annoying rowers, someone whose door the council has failed to mend, shoplifter caught stealing half a pound of cheese...........
he paid for his shopping, it wasn`t delivered and it took three days to get his money back, the whys, whats and hows are neither here nor there, it`s unacceptable.
people on the dole often have empty cupboards by pay day, it`s because they have little money, that`s why they`re getting the dole.
bring back : roll eyes :
I'm guessing he doesn't buy the cheapest of foods.

Yeah, I've often got nothing at all in to eat.
WRT the actual story- it's a bit shit, but "disgusting" is something of a stretch.

Actually, I find it irresponsible that people, regardless of income, don't ensure they have emergency meals in. Beans cost 33p, Soup costs from as little as 18p per tin. You can buy packet soup for just 45p. You can buy Value bread for 47p. Milk is just £1 for 4 pints. Value butter spread is just 77p. If you really can't afford a couple a quid to ensure you can eat then I'm sorry to say you need to look at what you can give up. **** perhaps? Wine? Scratchcards? Chocolates? Sweets for the kids every day? Elaborate food you couldn't afford in the first place? Sky TV? (This isn't aimed at you by the way, I'm generalising).

it`s the sneering by the clueless that gets my back up, not getting a hundred pounds worth of shopping and no refund for three days is a pretty big deal if you`re on the rock.
re the delivery slot he probably chose a late delivery slot because it`s a quid instead of six for delivery.

it doesn`t matter what it costs if you`re on a very limited budget you can only get what you have the money for, that`s why many people are having to turn to food banks.

Once you've bought the emergency food then you don't have to buy it again! It's there, in the cupboard, just in case!
I can't stand whining dullards like this. The guy needs to get some perspective. There are starving people out there in the world, and he's whining because he was going to have to wait a day longer for his shopping. I find it hard to believe he had nothing at all in his cupboards, fridge and freezer. And he wanted compensation for the error after he cancelled his order? Get a life.

It certainly is a great deal of money if things are tight financially.

not if you have to make an emergency buy of something else the next week - cooker breaks down, unexpected bill, child skins their shoes to the bone or loses a coat...........

it`s hand to mouth for many people, and they aren`t all on the dole either, i find the lack of comprehension about the reality that quite disheartening.
The thing here is that this person did it himself, as people often do when they leave no lee-way for error. It's like going for a car journey and not allowing for things to occur such that you would need money/phone/whatever.
The gentleman is obviously not a young man nor lacking in mental capacity. He should have known better, that's why the lack of "compassion".

It isn't rocket science to get extras in. You have to go shopping anyway so each time you go just buy an extra tin of beans or a cheap tin of soup. How on earth is 80p going to make a big difference to your bill? Please don't say "Oh but 80p is a lot if you are on a tight budget" because I am on a tight budget. This week it's either my rent or council tax! But like most people in the UK I will sort it. I will not ever, ever go hungry, even if it means I have to buy every item in the Value range!
The thing is about this is that family, friends and just the general public who recognise him are just going to point and laugh at the bloody idiot who ran to the paper because his shopping delivery didn't turn up.

We ate all the cupboards (surprisingly nice with drain sauce).

Okay, I must have misread bits of the article.
Haha.....Not getting their groceries delivered.
or
"Tesco bosses boil unemployed and can them to sell as ham"
or
"Tesco to invade Poland, tanks under construction"
or
"Tesco revealed to be the 2nd gunman who shot JFK, using a time machine the embattled retailer..."
You know, disgusting things.

How about that 5yr old bag of flour? Some frozen lard?
Mix together and create a Carrot and Mystery Meat Flan, yum!

To put your faith in Tesco is not rational.
