Horror film reccomendations?

I'm a massive fan of the genre but like everyone else, I've been terribly underwhelmed of late. I've recently watched Cabin in the Woods though and was absolutely blown away with it. It lured me in with false pretenses then completely just ripped up the rule book.

Now my faith is restored does anyone have any recommendations of equally brilliant horrors?

I've been gripped by The Conjuring, Insidious, Paranormal Activity, Inside (French movie), Wolf Creek, The Mist, Pascal Laugier's movies: Martyrs (another French flick) and The Tall Man. The Bardbadook is meant to be impressive.

Robert Florence directed a ridiculously low budget boutique horror film The House of Him. There's a lot of good words out there about it. Here's the glowing Daily Record review http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/whats-on/film-news/movie-review-house-him-4569827

Freaks is an interesting horror film. It was made in 1932. It featured "eponymous characters were played by people who worked as carnival sideshow performers and had real deformities", It was banned in many countries for years. Sadly MGM used a happier ending instead of the original ending and chopped a lot of what they considered the more horrific scenes. Many parts of the original film has been lost too. Some interesting information about the film here:

And one of the cut scenes here:

This far better than I was ever expecting. Some genuinely eerie and atmospheric scenes when viewing for the first time.

I thought it was quite a good film, but I do think that some might have expectations that will end up with disappointment. Still, if you give it a chance and go in with an open mind, you might well appreciate this film. Thought the two lead actors were good in this.

yes you're next is the last good horror film I saw
but I think the best horror films were ones that came out in the 80's the nightmare on elm street and the friday the 13th films and halloween and texas chainsaw massacre films (even though they were 1978 and 1974 respectively)
the scream films promised to resurrect the horror genre but I don't think it did. Overall cinema as a whole has become stale and boring now because of all the remakes and sequels.
I can recommend a film called Hatchet and if you're feeling like it hatchet 2 and hatchet 3 and also Curse of chucky
