This article is basically race baiting. We often see lots of criticism about the Daily Mail on here, but the Guardian certainly doesn't seem to be any better. I guess its good clickbait for the Guardian looking at the number of comments, but its also extremely poor journalism.

Formula One is just cars that sound like busy bees, signifying nothing
A rag for the left-leaning middle classes in Islington, very Ed Miliband.
Lewis Hamilton is as dull as shit... and his dad is bloody annoying.
Blacker than Andi Peters but not as black as Dappy
Or is it the other way round.....
Hamilton drives for Mercedes, so not the same reaction. Nothing racist about it, just not the same.
ETA. Just seen who wrote the article, Nuff' said
No. Seriously, no.
The article is complete bullshit, but let's not go over the top. Get some perspective.
They even thought he was the most important item on the local news tonight, ahead of the striking NHS workers and their pay freeze dispute. Strange.
And we don't like it when a black man earns millions for driving and a better driver than us.:(
F1 is dull, Hamilton is dull, his dad gives me the creeps and his girlfriend's a pain in the arse. None of that would be any better if he was white.
Isn't that just xenophobic stereotyping to make out all Germans are arrogant? Germans are very similar to us Brits in a lot of ways.
I agree. F1 , the cars drive themselves compared with years ago. They are all boring . So is the sport.
They are just on the wind-up.
Boxing and boxers have gone the same way in terms of how famous and popular they are - some still do well but nobody is as famous or popular as Frank Bruno or Barry McGuigan for example. Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe might be the closest since boxing mostly left terrestrial tv but I think they'd be well behind in terms of overall popularity when it comes to Joe Public.
I personally don't watch F1 any more, I used to quite a lot in the 80s and 90s, a little in 00's, but I just find it boring now.
Hyperbole sailed quite far over your head there, didn't it?
Seriously, I would die a happy man if the Guardian, as an entity revered by the socialist elite, were to die out in much the same way as the News of the World.
Not that I want to derail this thread, but I read an opinion piece on their website slating the poppy tribute at the ToL a couple of weeks ago. With absolutely no substantiating evidence, they're just being deliberately facetious controversial to the extent where it's not even laughable. The writer was getting stick even in the comments section by his own readers.
The problem is all newspapers obviously have their own target audience. Unlike the DM and Sun, The Guardian is, I'll be truthful here, read by a predominantly intelligent (if slightly left-wing) demographic - hey, we can't all be perfect, right? So that makes it even more scary when these stupid ill-conceived opinion pieces are written, so many of these bright people are taken in by the gumpf they're reading. It sets out to pick a topic, anything in current affairs, and twist it so that it seems like they're not following the crowd like "sheep".
I mean, don't get me wrong or anything, and I don't want to go off on a tangent here, but it really does my head in the levels of hypoc...no actually sorry I'll leave it there.
The Guardian have a few non white writers who seem to specialise in writing race bating articles. Look at the general theme of articles by the following Guardian writers:
http://www.theguardian.com/profile/josephharker
http://www.theguardian.com/profile/hughmuir
http://www.theguardian.com/profile/lolaadesioye
http://www.theguardian.com/profile/nesrinemalik
The sad thing is the Guardian is actually just giving the impression the only thing non white writers can write about is racism and immigration - rather than that non white writers can write as wide a variety of articles as white writers. The Guardian and these columnists are doing black writers and journalists a huge disservice,.
All the German sportsmen do come across as arrogant though.
