My favourite Curtis Axel anecdote is one I read in 'Titan Sinking' where as a youngster he took some of his dad's ICOPRO supplement and went on to shit himself during a football game :D

Couple of queries I was hoping someone in the know could answer for me: I've seen one or two of you mention about watching Raw and Smackdown on Hulu Plus. Are these heavily-edited episodes that are uploaded shortly after the proper USA/SyFy broadcasts?

Also, how long is it before the "latest" episode of Raw gets uploaded to the WWE Network? American TV re-broadcast rights make me presume it's a fair while, a week at best...?

    Ta chaps.

Also interesting to see (especially since I didn't know/think they covered wrestling) that Rolling Stone had Dolph Ziggler as their Wrestler Of The Year.

Even as the biggest of Ziggler marks I still probably think someone like Rollins, Orton or Ambrose should win instead but certainly this doesn't harm Ziggler in any way.

Have to admit this Ziggler push since Summerslam has genuinely taken me by surprise - I'm so used tosomething going wrong and the booking he'd had for most of late 2013/early 2014 made me give up hope of him ever being a main-eventer.

But this one has come out of nowhere and has really gained momentum - he hasn't been booked this well probably ever and commentary are going wild for him. I just hope they keep it up and he avoids an injury this time. I'm still assuming something will 'go wrong' though.

Also, I've seen articles online where Punk is described as the 'biggest WWE news story of the year'. Sorry to rant and annoy some people but what a load of bollocks.
This is the year when genuinely HUGE WWE and WWE-related things have happened - the launch of the WWE Network, the Streak ending, Warrior's death, the fans changing the WM main-event, Sting FINALLY appearing in a WWE ring and Batista appearing in one of the biggest movies of the year (and getting a role in one of the biggest film franchises of all-time) yet Punk is the biggest story? Oh do **** off. >:(:D

You know, I wondered if it might be around a month, but with the repeats on Hulu I started to think it would possibly be less.

Might have changed to be fair - but I'm sure people on here have mentioned 4 weeks or so when they've posted about it.

Just Googled WWE on Hulu Plus and the Raw's are a 90-minute edit. Not that fussed about SmackDown.

I'm definitely going to sort VPN out before the Rumble next month to get the Network if it's still failed to launch here, and was curious whether a Hulu Plus subscription would be better value for money than me getting Sky Sports, which is now available to me from BT TV. I know Hulu has more than just Raw and SmackDown, but I'm not sure what else on there Id be that interested in. I mean, I have Netflix and with a £5.99 legacy subscription I never begrudge paying for it, but I go through long periods where I rarely watch anything on Netflix.

On the other hand, Sky Sports from BT is considerably dearer, and it's only SS 1 and 2 I could receive, and Sky annoyingly shift Raw around the first four sports channels rather than keep the WWE content to just one. I only really want to see the full three-hour Raw's and the occasional Premier League match. SmackDown I can take or leave, and is it right NXT is leaving the Sky Sports schedule or have I got that wrong?...

    Anyway, thanks BFG :)

    No worries mate. :)

Yes NXT is off the schedule very soon I think. DMN has been posting the schedule details for WWE on Sky from when the new deal kicks in and NXT, Bottom Line, Superstars, Afterburn etc. all seem to be on their way out.

On Raw, I'm afraid I'm got some BAD NEWS (see what I did there :D) normally the live version is on Sky Sports 3. Occasionally it'll pop onto SS2 (and on rare occassions SS1) but SS3 is normally the live Raw channel of choice.

Me I have Sky so I'll continue using that for my WWE fix - though will get the Network too if it ever launches here. :D

Sucks that NXT is being axed, I've barely seen any but I know it gets consistently good feedback. Saying that though, will episodes of NXT show up on the Network a lot quicker than Raw's do? Or is that more wishful thinking on my part?...

Yeah, seems like it's still how it was donkeys years ago when my parents had Sky Digital, Raw, SmackDown and the PPVs were almost always on SS 3, and that was back when SS 3 was considered a bonus "free" channel if you took a sub for Sky Sports 1 and 2.

I glance at the Sky Sports listings in my TV guide every week and the edited repeats of Raw seem to bounce around the channels too. Id make do with those when the live full Raw wasn't available, but I daresay there'd be the odd week here and there where I wouldn't see any version of Raw :(

I said for ages I'd only get the Network when it officially launches here, but with all the delays and rumours and general lack of any concrete information, I can see me going the VPN route even though I've resisted for so long.

I get to see all the PPVs but from a friend who records them to disc and he can't always bring them up to me that quickly. But I really want to see the Rumble either live or the following morning, and I've decided that if there is no UK Network announcement by mid January, I'll seek alternative methods. I only want to give you my $9.99, Vince, come on!!

NXT is Network exclusive in the states I believe so it should be showing up immediately on the Network.

NXT is fine as an indie promotion but it would never get over on mainstream TV.

In probably the most predictable and funniest WWE news story of 2014, Hulk wants another title run. :D

Time for Hulk to take his medicine for today I think. :D

NXT reminds me of TNA when I first got into it on the Wrestling Channel in 2004. What with it increasingly having a cast of the 'best of the world' and a simplistic and old school, realism based approach to what it puts out. Actually it is better than TNA was because that always overdid it, in my opinion, with the total nonstop action approach - i.e ultra fast paced spot focused wrestling mishmashed with slower veteran wrestlers and lots of gimmick matches. TNA Impact was always a bit shoddy too.

It's just talk, he knows he wouldn't be approved to do more than throw a few punches and hulk up. He can't drop the leg or take a back bump without risking breaking his hip and cracking the fused discs in his back.

I have to say Hogan wrestling again would be quite interesting in a car-crash sort of way. God knows what'd happen if he so much as took a basic slam - let alone if he got a RKO, Curb Stomp or Spear or what not. :D

Hulk is always good for a truly laughable statement.

If we are going to lose NXT them I'm getting the Network.

If we don't know how the UK is getting it by Jan I'll just get the US one.

I watch it WWE streaming content elsewhere, everything gets uploaded with 6-48 hours to the usual haunts that host content. I also have to say The Usos seems like people you'd find interesting at a party but very annoying in large doses. They really aren't the Hardy Boyz even if Vince wants to push them in a similar way.

Last time Edge showed up, he was dragged out onstage unconscious because they couldn't actually film a beatdown skit because Edge is both injured and insured with SAG and under contract to Syfy so they wouldn't let him take the risk getting injured in any way and costing their production of Haven by forcing them to push back filming and mess up their scheduling.

I think it was actually Christian that was dragged out unconscious while Edge was in the ring but they did make multiple references to his neck and is inability to do anything physical.

As a special treat to the UK fans, they should put 1999 episodes of Thunder on the Network when it launches. Just look at all these classic matches that were on the show.:D

Ah, perhaps I am misremembering then... was that when Christian was coming off of a concussion?

I thought so. Sky Sports is looking less appealing for me now all PPVs are on Box Office, Raw gets shunted around the channels and the decent stuff like NXT is fresh on the Network anyway.

You don't half talk some tripe. Still, you managed to make a post that wasn't "tl;dr" and name drop your hero Vince Russo, so that's something ;-)

Exactly. I've got a soft spot for Hogan, despite hating him as a child when he was the Cena of his era. But I don't think I could tolerate him like I do today without taking many of his bullshit claims with a massive pinch of salt.

His biography that WWE Books put out in 2002 is the best: it's an enjoyable read but some of what Hogan claims has happened over his career are so transparently fictional, you almost have to admire the audacity of his fibbing!

    He's living the gimmick, brother.

I do find it odd X-Pac and Hogan were allowed back but Chyna is still blacklisted and Aloisia got fired for doing risque kinky photoshoots even though they signed Mickie James and had talent to Playboy. WWE has some odd double standards.

Not sure but given his recent track record he probably wasn't very far away from one either way. What's the story with his status right now anyway?

Chyna's persona non gratis status will be entirely because of the way she kicked off at the McMahons when she discovered HHH had been cheating on her with Stephanie. I can only imagine what those Titan Towers meetings were like!

It's nothing to do with Playboy/porn shoots or other risqué behaviour, although in this era of child-friendly characters and PG values that won't offend the sponsors, it s easier to see why WWE distance themselves from certain aspects of their own history.

Is the episode of Smackdown next Tuesday at 9pm a new episode or a repeat? I notice looking at the EPG that Smackdown is not on next Friday night, so perhaps it has been moved.
