My new MiFi keeps logging onto my Signal Box.
Very annoying.
Anyone know if EE can blacklist specific numbers (like my MiFi number).
Or can they only do a Whitelist?
Mine seems to have stopped and now calls go through everytime. I'm on Plusnet (I'm a top referer so I can call their business side for my customer's problems) and CS guy i spoke to said their system doesn't block anything. They do have one of the more advanced traffic management systems out there so maybe it's that Sky's traffic management is crap or something.
Devonbloke - You said yours works on plusnet - did you have to change anything on Plusnet or the router to get it working? Been trying for weeks and cannot get anything except flashing green light (tried it on a neighbour BT line and it went green within a couple of hours). I'm looking for any ideas, EE support are useless.
(Currently have signal box in DMZ, broadband firewall turned off at Plusnet connection settings page)

No, Plusnet are very good with firewalling. They don't block anything as far as know.
Just plug it in and it works. Mine logs in after about 3 minutes now.
Currently got it in a Netgear DG834 (legendary router : )
But had it working on TP-Link, Home hub 3 and Zyzel routers ok.
Oh and a really old D-Link DSL something or other (a non ADSL2 router).
I have a customer in the Village with a signal box on Orange on a Plusnet line using a Technicolour router.
No idea why your's won't work.
WiFi calling will be out any minute. You just need an up to date phone.
might be a dumb question is there any way of keeping the signal box going if i want to change to virgin or will it cut off as soon as i leave ee/orange

dont really wanna be stuck with them forever
Signal box is linked to the account so if you disconnect so does the box.
Thanks I may looking at buying one then off EBay to use at parents house while i am there which is at least 8 -12 hours a week as they live at the bottom of a cul de sac and get 1 bar 2G coverage which works most of the times but calls sometimes go straight to voicemail.
I wrongly thought they could only be used by the people given out to and in the areas that EE had said yes they were happy to be used in.
They look like are going for anything from £49 to £180 have to see what bids can get in
God, I can't wait for either WiFi calling or 4G to happen here.
Unbelievably EE can no longer set up a whitelist of phone numbers for the signal box and they are all fully open.
This causes me major problems and I can't believe no one else has this issue.
Downstairs I have the signal box on my crappy sub 2meg ADSL.
Upstairs I have the b593 router pulling in 1 bar 3G and about 15 meg which I use solely for my business.
Problem, the b593 logs into the bloody signal box so whenever I want to use the router I have to turn the signal box off!. The router then picks up the macro signal again.
Arrrggghhhhhhh!!!!
About 4 EE business CS staff have fully understood the problem but say there is nothing they can do.
As soon as 4G comes on (assuming the reduced signal gets here) the problem will go away as the router will then ignore the signal box and lock onto 4G. Also WiFi calling will solve it too assuming it will work over such a slow ADSL connection although I have my doubts.

It's a totally bizarre situation at the moment.
I wonder why EE can't do it but 3 can, given that they use the same femtocells?
My 3 home signal has been restricted from day one. It seems overall that 3 have the more polished system, which is probably why they are much happier to give you one than EE

Don't know.
Back in 2012 I was one of the first to get a box and then there was talk of them eventually locking them all down. This never happened I assume because they realised they didn't effect the macro network as much as they thought so they left them all open and probably scrapped any extra complicated back end management. Makes sense from their point of view.
I could have told them that right from the off though. I posted several posts at the time saying how clever the boxes were are detecting the macro signal and then adjusting themselves accordingly.
Downstairs where there is NO signal from any network whatsoever it pumps out maximum power and even goes through 2 large earth and slate farmhouse walls into my parents place. No hand off to the macro network though AND it's sets itself up in about 1 minute now.
Upstairs it detects the 2G EE signal (a dodgy 1 bar sometimes) and reduces it's power a little. It then take about 5 minutes to connect but I can make a call indoors and walk outside and down the yard where it will (I think quite amazingly) hand off (with a bit of a loud click) to the 2G network.
I can understand why they haven't locked them down but it doesn't help me at the moment. : )
Hi all, wondering if anybody can help me please? I have an EE Signal Boost box, one of the Nokia Siemens boxes, and up 'til about 4 or 5 weeks ago, it has been brilliant, despite my broadband not being incredible (6mb at best, around 1.2 at worst) But now, despite me having a regular solid green light on my box, and mine and hubby's phones still having full signal and the ability to send and receive text messages ok, if we try to make a call, it is all broken up. Nobody can understand us, and we can't understand them
I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of - unplugged the box, reset the box, changed the ethernet cable, tried a different port on the router, tried rebooting the router, moved the signal boost box as far away from the router as cables will allow - all to no avail. It's driving us mad, especially hubby as he needs it to work for his job!
I have called EE today and they asked what I had tried, asked me to run a broadband speedtest (no different from normal) and have now escalated it for further investigation, but I can't sit here doing nothing, it's not in my nature! If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be really grateful. Thanks! Kris.

This has been driving me insane also - I'm glad it's not just me, I thought this was a fault with my own "setup".
It's been as you describe since the weekend, at least that's when I first noticed it.
Being a techy I've pinged a lan switch connected directly to the box from across my network to check for latency etc, and it has a solid 1ms ping to my router, and my FTTC is 80/20 with a ping of about 15ms at worst even over wifi.
It sounds as though there is a serious latency problem at EE's end... I have no idea why/how it has come about though, and I can't even call and complain because "technically" i'm no longer a customer of their's, but an MVNO lol.
just to wade in im also having probs started a few days ago full sigal bars solid green light but now calls are breaking up when they used to be clear as abell
if anyone works out a fix would appreciate it
also rightonpard i was wondering how yours still works if youre no longer with ee -i heard they cut it off if u leave them

I was originally on T-Mobile when I had my box, then migrated to EE, before I "left"/disconnected the assioisated number.
I can only assume it was left active when I left T-Mobile as it was a migration as opposed to a cancellation, and as such they left the signal box active somehow.
Could just be down to luck - I expected it to stop working, but it's been going strong for months.
Back on track though... It's bleddy irratating that now it's "choppy" as hell - just sounds like a really poor signal on both ends despite "perfect" operating conditions ensured.
Calls on my signal box have been very stuttery the last few days. Doesn't seem connection related as the calls are fine when wifi calling works. I could unplug the signal box but it's a good fallback if the wifi calling drops out or refuses to send texts.
Weirdly, I have noticed that the light on that routers Ethernet port is constantly flashing even when the signal box has no traffic, which seems to have started happening when the calls started playing up.

They can be activated... Just needs an active pay monthly account

Guess it depends on who you speak to then because the person I spoke to at EE told me they would only activate boxes that came direct from them.
i have two signal boxes that still work 15 months after my business account was terminated. They come in very handy for family members who are on EE.
Unbelievably EE can no longer set up a whitelist of phone numbers for the signal box and they are all fully open.

i cant risk leaving ee though and it not working i did want to get a simo with virgin as its cheaper

you never know you could have slipped through the net-which is handy when its working
i know what u mean very frustrating i rely on it as theres terible to no signal in my house from any network
