I'm sad that Jake Gyllenhaal got snubbed, he was fantastic in Nightcrawler.
Agreed. Even though I think Michael Keaton should win the Oscar, Gyllenhaal should have at least got nominated for his performance in Nightcrawler. Before I saw Birdman, Gyllenhaal was my choice.
Just the trailer 'you do not have to do it alone' shows how wooden she can be.
To be fair she is playing a posh stiff upper lip Cambridge mathematician from the Home Counties in the 1940s. The whole point of her performance is controlled emotion and the quiet struggle of a woman in a man’s world.
Others may disagree – but Keira is clearly nominated for a reason and I liked the film and her performance in it. She won’t win – as I presume Patricia Arquette will add to the Boyhood bag of awards.

I thought she was terrific in Imitation Game. A well deserved nomination.

I understand the role completely but I just don't think she pulled it off. She was better than most things I've seen her in but not Oscar-worthy by any stretch. As I said it may have been a poor year for choice.
The Grand Budapest Hotel was my favourite film of the last year, but it doesn't seem to be getting the attention it deserves, my guess being, due to the fact it didn't come out in the last couple of months (unlike quite a few of the films that are currently getting a lot of award hype).

it has the joint highest number of oscar nominations, including picture, director, and and screenplay. It would have been nice for Fiennes to be nominated, but that aside, it's hard to see how it could have gotten more attention?
i feared at the start of awards season it would be overlooked, but it really hasn't been, quite the opposite in fact....

Hmm, the academy has its issues for sure, but this year Selma and its supporters have only Paramount to blame, not the academy. I don't think I've ever witnsessed such a keystone cops performance of an awards camapagin before ever.
Comments
Agreed.
Also agree with you regarding Keira Knightley.
It's not original. The melody is taken from Sleeping Beauty.

And most of the lyrics from the Disney film.

It's Tchaikovsky who wrote it for Sleeping Beauty ballet. Then pinched by Disney:)

come on now, it was robbed of a nomination in the documentary short category, and you know it.....;-)
lol Were there subtitles in the film? Then it should have definitely been included in the Best Foreign Language Film category as well.

it featured an immigrant, so, you know, it was techically foreign.....;-)
lol And didn't someone yodel in it? Then a Best Song nod should have been a shoo in.

cheeky bugger....:p
It was that horrific Golden Globes dress - they couldn't risk an Oscar nom turning up in something so awful
They would confuse her with Priscilla Presleys seat filler.
there was sound, were was the sound nominations?
They woz robbed I tell thee, robbed.
