The following is a list of which hand I am better at.
Writing: Left.
Throwing something: Right.
Tennis: Right.
Badminton: Right.
Table tennis: Left.
Using a drill: Left.
Screwdriver: Left.
Opening or locking a door: Left.
Hammer: Left.
Cricket: Right for bowling, right for batting.
PC Mouse: Right.
Smoking: Left.
Drinking: Left.
Remote control: Left.
Phone: Left.
Reading a book: Turn pages with the right.
Typing: Left.
Where did all that come from?
Right handed people are voting more in this poll currently than left handed people, with ambis coming in last, which is what I would expect.
My right wrist suffered a fracture during a sport activity at school. Had to use my left to write while my right was in a cast. When the cast came off, I kept using my left because being a teenager, I thought it was too cool to stop. Nowadays, I can't write English with my left (it looks as if I'm very drunk) and Japanese with my right (it looks as if I'm five years old).
My left hand is dominant in sign language, though. Probably because my left-handed brother taught me sign language since I was a toddler. So it was all his fault.
Best left:
Writing
Tennis/Rounders
Throwing stuff
Eating with fork or spoon
Turning pages
Best right:
Cricket
Golf
Scissors
Knife and fork
Guitar
PC mouse (leaves my left hand free to write)
Shooting rifle
Ambi:
Screwdriver
Drinking (but prefer left)
Drums (can play open or crossed, either handed)
Shooting pistol
Ex-husband was also left-handed.
Daughter is forced to be as she's hemiplegic and cannot use her right hand. It's obvious that naturally she'd be right handed, which makes life very difficult as it doesn't come easily to her to try using her left hand.
Sorry, too much information
I thought left-handedness was confined to around 5% of the population, meaning that DS users would seem to be significantly more likely to be left-handed than an average person off the street.
Im amazed how close the poll is between left and right, i thought it would be like 20-30%left and the other 70-80% right
Last year, out of 30 children in my class, 7 were left handed. Quite unusually high. However, there are usually at least 2. 😊
