I only really started watching ED when the Cameron storyline was reaching its climax.
I can't say I've ever really taken much notice of Katie - she hasn't done much in the time I've been watching. She seems rather dull. So that's why I can't say I'm bothered one bit whether she stays or goes.
Can't wait for Robert to get found out though! Chrissie could do so, so much better than that weasel.
I'd much rather see wife beater Andy, and bullying Robert go then Katie. What a sorry excuse they both are to be carrying the name of the first and best family the soap ever had!
I quite like Katie. She doesn't deserve to die! I somehow don't think she will either|!
At the same time I love Robert and his dastardly ways! How the hell he gets out of these situations is anyone's guess!
Next week should prove very interesting!!
I am expecting Katie to die, but maybe she fakes her death? Dies, or lives, I will actually miss Katie. I think Sammy has done a good job with the character. I hope she does well after Emmerdale and do not blame her for trying new things, after thirteen years on a soap.
I really don't like the way Emmerdale writes these exits for long term characters, Terry, Viv and Katie could all have exited and returned one day, but instead they've been killed off.
There's a bit too much OTT drama in ED for me at the moment. We've had Donna's death as well as the Robbie death and Charity and Declan drama and I feel it's too soon for another death. It's only a small village after all. The one thing that ED consistently does well though is the lack of spoilers leading to shocks. I'm hoping they deliver again next week but the fact that everyone's pretty much expecting her to die shows that it's happening a little too often. It's Emmerdale not Hollyoaks.

ED is very much adopting the Hollyoaks style of "drama of the week" narrative at the moment - almost every week now there's a new stunt, someone with a serious illness or a shock twist.
As with Katie's exit - it would definitely be a surprise if she doesn't die - but what's the alternative?
Katie is leaving - so if it's not in a box, does she just run off? Whilst that exit would be a "twist", it would ultimately be a pretty lame one - a narrative damp squib for the sake of creating a surprise twist?
I think the "surprise" will come in the nature of how she dies probably.
I do understand how people who are fans of the character not being happy though - the writers have taken one small aspect of Katie's character and amplified it to an almost ridiculous level for the sake of facilitating an exit story - it doesn't even feel like the exit story is even about her. It feels like she's just being thrown away as collateral damage in the Aaron / Robert affair storyline.
They couldn't have given her a worse exit if they'd tried. I am watching ThisisnotKatieSugden playing off against ThisisnotRobertSugden. The only time we see the real Katie now is when she's with Belle.
I feel sorry for Sammy Winward going out this way. it wouldn't surprise me if she was upset with this appalling crap.
Was still holding out some hope that Katie just leaves but thanks to the OP that isn't possible now. I avoided the spoilers revealing what happens for that reason. Not everyone wants to know.

No one at ITV or ED has confirmed she dies. It is just everyone saying ishe is going by what they know.

BIB: I was saying this to my boyfriend just the other day.
Emmerdale seems to have to have an "event" every week which I don't appreciate especially when it ends up with people ending up in hospital only to be out a few days later ie. Jai, Cain and James.
Back to Katie, I think she's behaving in character, meddling in other people's business has always been her forte. I don't dislike her, in fact, I'm rooting for her to catch him out. I believe the majority are supposed to feel that way, unfortunately people want Robert to get away with it.
Like I said in another thread, Katie is 100% right about Robert and wants revenge for what he did to her. We can call her stupid because we know it's leading up to her exit whether she dies or not. But I doubt she even suspects that her meddling could lead to her death. Robert has succeeded in making her look like a fool and she just wants vindication.
I'd rather it didn't lead to her death but I think that is where it's headed.

Hi there, spungey.:D
re, your comment that Sammy, might be upset?
It's interesting to see that she's done the bare minimum publicity for this story, which is unusual for her. All there's been is one interview that's been rehashed a few times.
There was something about her leaving the UK to look for work, so maybe she's not in the UK atm?:)
ps. My sincere apologies to Matt.
I thought everyone knew by now.
I really should have said 'exit' instead of death.

Hello.
A better exit than this sorry tripe would have been one involving Declan. No build up story
just an episode where someone is spying on Katie then at the end of the episode she's bashed over the head and dumped into the boot of a car with blood pouring from her head. The final shot as the car drives away is Declan's face in the car mirror.
Jason might have been prepared to comeback for one days filming.

I said that few weeks ago and got jumped on by Emmerdale fans. It's stunt central which may attract casual viewers who float about between soaps wanting this sort of thing BUT I'm not sure it is positive for the longer term Emmerdale. It needs to be character driven not plot after plot driven. As folks have said here Katie is being written in a death scenario to just play out the short term story with Robert/Aaron. Soaps need their long term characters and someone like Katie could quite easily have had a few years off and come back. To have someone join a cast as a teenager and make middle age is the backbone of these soaps. Viewers grow up / age with these characters. Too many deaths of young characters in Emmerdale - it is ridiculous.
I dont think what happens between chrissie, robert and Aaron is any of her business. I know she doesnt trust Robert but i dont think its down to her to interfere . Its not like Chrissie and her are close. One thing to warn her and leave it at that, another to be obsessed with exposing someone. Affairs are terrible but it's not like he's committedwar crimes or is a people trafficker, or has his first wife buried under the patio. Katie doed neef yo stop interfering.
That said, katie is generally a nice character and its horrible to see her forcing others to turn against her. At least we're also seeing her being kind and supportive to Belle. I suspect thst their making enemies for Katie for full dramatic impacy -possibly a whodunnit:(.
I agree about her reputation on here. She's only slept with four or five guys hasn't she? I never get the impression she goes out on the pull. Ok shes not pure as the driven dnow, but it's not Sodom and Gommorrah is it?
Yeah.. and I've only eaten 4 or 5 chocolate bars this year Katie has slept with atleast 10 men. We worked it out on another thread. Could probably find it again if necessary

You are spot on.
KO goes in for stunts twists and shocks galore in the hope that it will compensate for all the dire tripe she produces. Under her ED has become as shallow as a tea cup saucer. In all her time she has not produced one single story of her own that's pulled in 7 million viewers. Blackburn did it many times. KO has produced flop after flop year after year. It's a total mystery how she's still in charge.
When a newspaper has confirmed this is the last you will ever see of the character, it can only mean one thing!
It wasn't a newspaper, it was the Star. It's reputation precedes it.
They may have got lucky and be right for once but the Emmerdale press office has not given the Star (or anyone else) any information.

I doubt it was Emmerdale fans. Not long term ones anyway. I'm sure the majority of those would agree with you. It's just not Emmerdale any more.
Remember the last time Aaron was in it all those 'Emmerdale fans' suddenly appeared and then disappeared just as quickly when he did. Now he's been allowed back his followers may be back too.

Round 10.:D
The Star story was a couple of months ago. The latest was from the Metro a few days ago.
The Star said a source said she was being killed off and that was also before her final scenes were shot. They could easily have changed the ending during that time if they had wanted to.
2 months later the Metro said that we can now CONFIRM this is the last you will see of Katie.
I hope Robert gets found out otherwise Katie's death will be pointless. The actress might as well be written out in such a way that she can come back if all fails.

Thought it was already revealed what happens. Still would be better if people stopped putting it in the title.
