If I had a game were it was all going wrong though and the offers were really low, I'd either deal at the best probable offer and then maybe use box 23 too or I'd go all the way to 23 and hope for the best. I think I'd like to see more players who are not going to get close to 10 grand at best deal and then use 23 more, as they hardly ever do use that approach and the wings never seem to really advise that tactic either or enough.
The problem with dealing to play Box23 is that you are usually giving up too much equity.
Say you had a five box of £20,000,£10,000,and three blues. The average is £6K but the Banker's offer would probably only be about £3K. If you carry on,your only real disaster is finishing with two of the blues, and you will have to play Box23 anyway. That is a 30% chance. If you finish with the £10K and a blue you will be about the same. But any finish with the £20K,and you will be a lot better off.
Thus it makes more sense to carry on than deal and play Box23 for £3,000.
The only situation where it is correct to deal with the intention of playing Box23 is at the last two boxes and the banker offers near the average. Say the last two boxes were £10,000 and a blue, and he offers £4,500. In that situation I would probably deal and go straight to Box23. It cuts your chance of ending up with nothing from 40% to 20%. But if he offered only £3,500,I would still No Deal. the equity loss is too great and we are not talking about huge sums of money.
In general players should not deal with the intention of playing Box23. You should really only be thinking about Box23 at the end of your game, once you know how much money you've won. Turning down favourable No Deals in order to save the money to play Box23 can occasionally lead to spectacular errors,as we saw with Peter last year, who cost himself over fifty thousand pounds because he was so determined to play Box23.
Sounds moderately interesting. This must be the first time that not everybody in the wings will get to play. So six of the couples are going to win nothing. It must also mean that in order to keep the numbers up in the wings, the couples that have already played must have to stay on for the rest of the shows. Personally I don't think I could be bothered with that. if I'd played and won 50p or something the last thing I'd want is to have to hang around and film more shows. I'd be wanting to get to the bar as soon as possible.
And are they all going to be spouting the usual nonsense about "Oh,you're a lovely person,I'm going to miss you so much" when they've only been together for five shows? I would imagine they would have got to the hotel, filmed the shows, and be away again in about two or three days.
As for the bit about the Banker possibly splitting the couples up during the game so they can't help each other, that could well be a good thing. As I said in a post a couple of days ago, most of the "help" and advice offered to the players by their family and the other players is next to useless.

Curse you Channel 4 for messing with the times!
Laters.
I should be the one saying that as I can only see it live on Mondays and Tuesdays now. :D
And between you and Strictly, that's three complaints about them in three minutes.
