I know it's a team game, but that decision has robbed Taylor the chance of an important personal milestone of an International hundred
I realise the umpire's decision is always right but this time it's wrong !
The Sky pundits have just read out the specific law regarding 3rd Umpire decisions, The Ball is Dead the moment the batsman is given out before the appeal.
Shocking lack of knowledge by the on field and 3rd umpires.
On TMS Sir Geoffrey was commenting on the absurdity of having the one big "discovery" from the warm up games that Taylor was the best number 3 we had then playing him in the biggest game of the cup we are likely to play down the order and drafting in someone else who did not do much in the warm ups.

Fortunately it made no difference to the result (other than denying Taylor a ton) but just imagine what could happen in a more pivotal game.
The run out referral was made by the square leg umpire same time as the lbw decision given by Dar. Third umpire gave correct answer to the square leg referral.
England are never going to get off to a blazing start with Ali and Bell opening (despite the field restrictions). Compare that to Australia with Warner and Finch who more often than not will score very quickly. Two very contrasting opening partnerships. Anyway, the way this World Cup is structured, all England have to do is take care of the minnows and they will be in the quarters. One good day there and then all of a sudden in the semis, which will be seen as success, when in truth it will hide the many deficiencies.

Ali is far too suspect against the rising delivery. Fast bowlers now have his measure. Does not bode well for the future. His other main attribute is spin. But we need a good spinner not a makeshift one.

Balance should have been playing the warm up games. Taylor should have been higher in the order.

The Third umpire should also have known the law. >:(
Anyway, Finch and Maxwell playing for Yorkshire this year.

Taylor leading the Victory Charge :-)
Scratch that.
oh dear..........
Does this mean you can now get both batsmen out with a single ball?
And Boycs, wear that 'ranter' badge with pride. The other chap is best left to kiss ass in the jungle of reality TV.

However, they may likely 'get by' against lesser opposition.
Not sure why a new thread was created when it wasn't needed. Perhaps the mods will merge the threads.

Disagree; the World Cup is more significant than other run-of-the-mill international matches and as such deserves its own thread.
The mods need to lock one of the threads for the duration of the World Cup so that we don't get two seperate threads discussing the same subject.
Yeah, that would be sensible.
