    Wonga?

You would have to borrow £50, and pay back £52 within 7 days.

    £10? I would sell something.

Borrow from Wonga then, just spend the £10 and pay the rest back.

If you get this loan will you have enough spare money to pay the loan plus the interest back next week? Or will that leave you short and they cycle will continue?

I would sell anything rather than do an interest loan, Dvd's anything but that

Crisis loans dont exist anymore, i dont own any dvds the only thing I have in my flat worth anything is my computer, which would leave me nothing to do, can blame my ex for that took everything when she left.. Edit ,tried wonga they wont do it, as i havent got a credit history yet, never had a loan until needing one now

Yes, I do - stay away!
Honestly they are the absolute pits! Not forgetting in the unbelievable, they will hound you will texts and phone calls approaching the day you have to pay. And if you can't pay it only gets' worse. You will regret it.
Try selling something on Gumtree to raise the cash. With a prepaid meter, speak to your provider who may show you some sympathy and credit you until you are paid.

You can go overdrawn on your pre-paid meter. You may need to enable/access the emergency fund though by pressing a certain button.

Cant you get rid of the meter once you are settled in your job, your friends must be tight if they won't lend.

There seems to be a trend for people claiming to have no money joining DS.

Can't someone lend you £10? Infact i'll do it if none of your friends will.

No utility company is going to remove a pre pay meter as you already admit to having no credit history.

Your parents may be assholes but surely it would be better to ask them for a loan than strangers online? Or contact your electricity provider, explain your situation.

I find it hard to believe there's no one in your life that can lend you a tenner til payday. Won't your employer lend it you?

Exactly. Perfectly valid advice under the circumstances.

The person didn't scarper, they stuck around and continued to post on DS as if nothing had happened and made no attempt to pay back the money.

But then these begging threads have appeared every now and again and it's always someone with less than 10 posts.

I know Crisis Loans have been done away with, but the DWP does 'budgeting loans' for emergencies (so as far as I can gather, a crisis loan under a different name?). I would definitely recommend going to a job centre to enquire about a budgeting loan before taking out a payday loan as they can easily lead to a vicious circle of borrowing to pay off previous loans...

Edit - if you have nothing to sell, what about old fashioned pawning? :p A friend of mine pawned his jewellery when he was really struggling for cash and bought it back as soon as he had the money again (he was in a similar position to you from the sounds of things).
