This is the only mast that serves the valley I live in. It has O2, EE and 3 on it, no Vodafone (yet), they've never had any coverage here but their website says they will in the next three months. This view is from a bit far away, but you can't get a close view because of trees:

No 4G on it yet, O2 2G/3G900, EE 2G/3G and 3. Vodafone's planned coverage map shows they are adding 3G to it, will believe it when it actually happens.
MBNL + O2 (not sure if Voda is on this one). MBNL has it 4G'd for EE and Three and O2 is what you'd expect (slow 3G).
I think beauty might be in the eye of the beholder there! Hahahaha
Also remember MBNL is purely for 3G between EE and Three.
Three might well have 4G from this site but it will be their own separate kit, nothing to do with EE.
Pretty sure this is one, and it could be O2, but I'm fairly sure its switched off now. Given the small box next to it, I assume 2G only. https://goo.gl/maps/4eict
Behind the trees is the fire station with a large Vodafone mast, which is both O2 & Vodafone 2G, 3G and 4G now. https://goo.gl/maps/xxHyH
Three "tree" masts on the Keir Roundabout on the A9 near Dunblane. They used to stick out like a sore thumb as they were very obvious, but now the surrounding foliage has grown up over the years, they're not as noticeable as they used to be.
Two are just to the right of centre of the image, the third is breaking the skyline above the dark coloured car exiting the roundabout near to the left of the image.
Now, I'm going to praise O2 for a moment. Yes really.
First, the bad news.......
Here is the O2 3G coverage for South Devon. It's that little spot in Kingsbridge. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2e1uhfu8vbiyhjp/O2-South-Devon.JPG?dl=0
They have done no other major 3G in South Devon apart from Torquay and Plymouth oh and a little in Totnes.
Oh and it's 2100 as well so it actually works!
But to get that 3G in the town which appears to be to cover the Tescos and Morrisons there they have erected this mast which only looks weird because it's effectively a telegraph pole with no wires.
It actually looks like a wooden pole and even has the foot rests on it as you can see.
For anyone apart from me, you simply wouldn't notice it at all.
Well done O2. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.285301,-3.780246,3a,68y,188.2h,96.73t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sAfkabHbQd_673di_5XYIzw!2e0
That mast in Kingsbridge is being swapped out to be upgraded to 4G in about a months time
The MBNL/Vodafone about 50m from my house is pretty ugly IMO. Although 3 haven't launched 4g from it I doubt I'll be complaning in a months time. There's also 20mhz 4GEE and there's whatever Vodafone put on it, which I think is EDGE. Sitefinder also shows o2 there but I can't see anything on it.
I've got one. Not sure if it's the prettiest or the ugliest, but it's certainly the weirdest mast I've ever seen.
The story goes that Orange needed to have a mast in this locality, but the council wouldn't allow planning permission for anything that didn't look like it belonged there. So they build a special mast to look like a grain hopper and put it in a farmyard.
I wonder if the networks try and keep quiet about extraordinary masts like that, for fear of other local councils finding out about what's possible and then demanding similar treatment in their areas?
That said, perhaps for most potential sites the networks wouldn't be willing to go to such lengths - that site looks like it covers a stretch of the M1 to the west of Nottingham, and also part of the Midland mainline rail line too, so Orange were willing to make the investment in return for coverage of important arteries.
I think in most areas the planning guidance says they should approve national infrastructure like masts, except where it is an area of outstanding natural beauty or if there are good reasons for it to be declined. In the applications I have read they attach the planning guidance for reference and usually point out that alternative sites have been ruled out etc.
I think the special masts are only when there has been several refused applications or in very sensitive areas. I also think (although not certain) that the rules have been relaxed slightly over the last few years making it more difficult for councils to refuse as the economy is more and more reliant on better communications for home workers and for the good of the nation, smart meters, new technologies.
It was upgraded to EDGE in 2010. Surprisingly for Voda in general, but even more surprisingly for an omnidirectional site in a built up area, it is the fastest EDGE cell I've ever used. Ping always around 300ms and 200kbps down, 50 up. There's something quite nostalgic about it if nothing more
Will Try and get a picture of the abandoned Vodafone lamppost mast this week if anyone's really interested, or are we all getting bored of mast porn now???
Talking of which I cant believe nobody has reposted the picture which was posted a few months back on the EE or Three 4g Thread of the masts in that hillside field with the massive dirty twin microwave dishes on.. Very ugly and cold war like..

Wow! that second mast is pretty ugly. Jolly well done!
Makes this mast in Newton Abbot look very pretty! Haha
All networks 3G. EE 4G 20Mhz. Had 80meg off it!

EDIT: I think Three now have 4G on this too.

Looking at my area, the 3 mast is UTMS, is this not 3g?
Yet i get a 4g signal. But i cant see any 3 4G masts.

Image is at the bottom of the album.
Great so then there'l be a tiny area of 4G in an otherwise sea of 2G there instead.
I don't understand their thinking at all on this.
Why just one mast right there?
They haven't 3G'd the main transmitter covering Kingsbridge which is the West Alvington one here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.278912,-3.800579,3a,25y,137.14h,87.81t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1ssTSjxrIWXblbPtsMBBhMVw!2e0

Wow, that's a jump, 2G only area, might get a sliver of 4G and still no 3G. Vodafone are funny like that ;-)

Just For Devon, Here's one of the Telegraph pole masts near me in Trentham Staffordshire.

And here, street view must have gone though Stone a few weeks/months before The One here was installed as you can see that the tarmac has been dug up and relayed at the exact spot the new mast now stands..
