They were still moving all their call centres out to places like India then though.
That should have been seen as a warning. But things that cannot be moved like agriculture and to a certain extent industry paid well because people were needed. Today those same jobs are being steadily taken over by immigrant workers who are prepared to work for less than the equivalent of what a British national was earning a decade ago.
I don't understand the logic of bumping MPs pay up to, say, £100k a year which would then somehow magically make them indifferent to the additional outside work that can line their pockets to the tune of a couple of hundred grand. Does a wage of £100k suddenly abolish greed in our elected liars?
Oh my God did she just say give Mp's more money no no no no no
It's greed pure and simple. They don't get enough now so pay them more. All of a sudden the new amount won't be enough. So when somebody offers them more for "extra" work they will take it and we go through the whole MPs are not paid enough cycle again.

I wonder what Diane Abbott or Alan Johnson will say about it on This Week.

And particularly the MP that's already had five months maternity leave for her first child; about to go on leave for her second.
Full time my arse
It's Abbott, back by absolutely NO public demand!
....
"Pants" & "Rock-Up" - My, she's down wid da kidz innit?
The vote yesterday was about paid directorships and consultancies
How can people concentrate on two different jobs and do them both well? One job is bound to suffer.
They don't get paid for QT.
just like we are not compulsed to vote period!
schappy doo whinging about THE PLEBS being MP's .....
Depends on the hours you do in both?
True but they do get paid for other shows. Have I Got News For You is one of the highest payers.
while there people on £13,000 in civil service and local govt no raise for mp's
So I wonder what is the exact figure that cures greed?

But which one would you concentrate on and take more seriously?
