    Wonderful character in spock and as others have said played a variety of parts on top of that..

    I was incredibly sad when I read this news.

    He came across as a genuinely decent guy and he was iconic as Spock.

    I know he lived a long life, but somehow it just doesn't seem right for him to be gone.

    From the first moment he appeared on the screen in Star Trek, Leonard/Mr Spock has got to have been one of the most loved characters in all screen history.

    Absolutely gutted to see this news. He was a truly wonderful human being who was so much more than Mister Spock. This is one of the few celebrity deaths that will genuinely upset me.

    Shame, I was a massive Star Trek fan and have watched every film and episode, although stopped short of dressing up and heading off to a convention.

    He died of the same disease as my Mum did, although she was 20 years younger, so a good innings considering.

    Yes, he had a great innings. It's nearly 50 years since Star Trek first hit our screens amazingly.

    I'd forgotten it was almost time for the 50th celebrations. Makes his passing even sadder, somehow.

    RIP Leonard Nimoy

    Spock was a great character.......seems that for many years Leonard rebelled against being typecast as 'Spock' but accepted eventually that that was his place in history......and it's not a bad thing to be remembered for

    I didn't know he had directed 'Three Men And A Baby' so he did do some other decent work apart from Spock
