It's peculiar how much focus the parties put on balancing the books, when it seems the public can't be arsed to get their house in order with an average debt per person being £29k in January.

1930's line by Labour (which was scaremongering as some of Brown's budgets were in terms of GDP at 1930 levels spending) has been neutralized.

Truth hurts. They are only doing what they do every time they are in office. Labour creates unemployment. FACT. Unemployment rose under every single Labour Govt. Unemployment fell under every single Tory Govt.

Actually unemployment has only dropped to what it was in 2007 under Labour. When Labour took control in 1997, unemployment was higher than when they left in 2010. Unemployment was at its highest level in 1992/3 when the Tories were in power and had been for 13 years.

Sorry but Families are not £900 better off, what a load of tosh.

Working people have gained from the increased personal allowance.

He's not the only one acting like an arse in there, so why point him out other than to make a cheap dig?

Surprising not. Tories get put into power every time because Labour f..k up. It takes time to sort out the f..k up but they do every time.

Labour may screw up the economy but it is the Tories who have the highest unemployment all the time.

And they get out because they end up corrupt all the time.

And stop using Labour to defend the Tories, I don't support Labour.

Osborne trying to tell people black is white, he is better off saying nowt than taking people for fools especially repeating the 'We're all in this together' mantra

I remember it going over 3 million when the Tories were in power.

That's true, but they've lost from increased VAT, utility bills and housing costs which have all more than wiped out any gains.

Tories are actually good imo, they faced an uphill task from day 1

I agree. The Conservatives have won me over this term, and I fear for the future if Labour get into power.

I do as well, but the chart I found with a quick search only went back to 1991.

Not in my world, heating costs down, petrol costs down and food prices down. Council tax unchanged.

    Interesting to watch Balls.

Whenever Osborne gives an actual past quote by the Shadow Chancellor then Balls shakes his head as if he never said it.

    Osbourne is destroying Labour

Labour are going to be similarly destroyed in Scotland, by the time Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond have finished.

It only went down because they moved people from unemployment to incapacity. And now they are moving them back from Incapacity to unemployment and to sanctions.

Only going after £5bn of tax lost through avoidence/evasion? What about the other £30bn?

Remind me who put VAT up to 20%.

And is that gain the mean or the median?

    I noticed that as well

Mind you, he has been in a state of denial for some time
