I love how the fact that Paul's had three defeats in a row across two and a bit weeks has somehow gotten a free pass and been ignored on here, but Shaun loses once in two and a bit weeks and it's still worthy of ridicule.
I know people will disagree (so save any heated counter-arguments please!) but I'm sure I've seen today's episode before too. I've 100% seen the 2nd player on The Chase before.
I emailed ITV about Monday's episode and the official line from them is that Monday's was a new episode (not that I believe it!) Perhaps this week's episodes have been previously shown on weekends, which is why some of us believe we have seen them and others who only watch The Chase as part of a weekday routine think otherwise.
I am 100% sure these are new episodes. This is the evidence:
1) The solid screen behind the entrance of the chasers as they walk on was new for season eight. The previous seven seasons had a space invader style set of lights.
2) ITV catch up on my EPG list all these shows as series eight.
3) The copyright on every one of these shows at the end of the credits lists 2014 - only series eight was shot then.
I willing to bet any money that these are NOT repeats, any takers?
Shaun caught a 19 and a 16 in his first two outings shown in series eight back in September.
Since then he has failed to catch any score above 15, losing six times. Fortunately for him he has statistically faced the weakest teams ever, setting him an average target of 14, and he is 18-3 against targets of 15 or less.
In contrast Paul has lost six games to scores of 20+ (Shaun has not faced any 20+ targets)

According to my TV guide it IS a Repeat
I also thought I had seen it before as I recognized the lady from Skipton

One thing about Paul's last defeat - it is not showing up on ITV player, nor on STV or UTV.
Is there anywhere else I can view it?

This makes sense. Sean seems to me the weakest Chaser.

Thanks for the information. I thought so I just couldnt remember the last time he catched a high score.

No heated counter argument from me, just four words: you are completely mistaken.
Why do you E Mail ITV and then disbelieve their reply?
I don't think regular episodes of The Chase have ever premiered at the weekend.
