    Happy by Pharell Williams

It replaces Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin which held the top spot for nearly two decades.

Strangely exhortation to be happy seems to have the opposite affect on me. If I'm feeling out of sorts the lyrics just make it worse.

    Black-Eyed Peas: "My Humps".

Makes me vomit and want to literally...do...something...unpleasant, each time it plays on the radio

...and to think it did so well in the charts when it was released. My faith in human taste and decency evaporated since 2005.

Sickly sentimental. Bland arrangements. Cliched lyrics. And that voice! Pick any song, but this one will do. I feel any zest for life remaining drain out of me listening to this music. It epitomises dullness.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! That is truly ghastly, yes. :o

    Sooooo many.

    1. Literally unlistenable. Yoko Ono's 'Don't Worry Kyoko'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swG6Rry9Tss

    2. Pervy. Lots. But Gary Puckett's 'Young Girl' will do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJFVPxBpezk

    3. Retrospectively disturbing. The Angelettes (aka Jonathan King) with 'Don't Let him Touch You'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZMadIrYxBU

    4. Actually makes you want to wage war. Boy George 'The War Song' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZMadIrYxBU

    5. Plain Icky. Dan Hill 'Sometimes when we touch'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZMadIrYxBU

    6. Cover version that makes you long to machine gun the perpetrator. Ronan Keating's 'Fairytale of New York'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daAG5JfNNFQ

    7. Overdosed by 10,000%: 'When I'm 64' by the Beatles. As played by the BBC EVERY TIME they do a feature about anything age related.

    8. Deliberately unlistenable, ha very ha. Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYtzNl48F60

    9. How drunk do you have to be to dance to this shit? Agadoo by Black Lace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POv-3yIPSWc

    10. Makes you want to take brain-damaging quantities of drugs and shag a horse. 'One Day at a Time' by far too many people.

Do you remember, when you walked among men?
Well Jesus you know if you're looking below
    It's worse now, than then.
Cheating and stealing, violence and crime
So for my sake, teach me to take
    One day at a time.

    anything that overuses vocal effects.

That eliminates an entire music genre from your playlist then!

That Whitney Houston one that is something like "I will always love you".

To hit the big notes, it sounds just like she is shouting, rather than having a powerful singing voice. Dreadful noise.
