Surprised their commercial competitor hasn't signed him up as co-host.
Bam Bam and Boom Boom, anyone?
    Not dumming down at all...

I wonder if the actual puppet was at Radio Solent, or just the geezer who does the voice? :D

It's very disconcerting for the presenter when that happens.
A colleague at the late Fox FM struggled to interview Keith Harris and Orville when he didn't bring the duck.
Barry Humphries has the better, and in my view, more professional approach. Never lets his guard slip, even on the phone... when he 'goes and gets' Edna.
Other impressionists and ventriloquists will merely say 'When you bring the mic up, xxx will be there' - and I have to say I don't like it!

Sam FM, across town from Solent, have the Bam Bam breakfast show. And it should've been 'dumbing', of course. How stupid am I!

He'd find it a lot harder now trying to interview Orville with no Keith Harris.

Indeed, apparently Orville's feeling empty inside after the sad news... ;-)
