"For those feeling cheated by British singer Sam Smith’s reluctance to exhume the soulful magnetism that once allowed Disclosure’s “Latch” to reach its zenith of house-garage nirvana from whatever crypt the success of his frumpy debut In The Lonely Hour consigned it to, Markus Feehily may have found the perfect remedy with “Love Is A Drug”."
He just needs decent promo, the fact that he went from nowhere to #47 on iTunes after just one performance says it all...
Also, I think he made a mistake just releasing the single in digital format - Westlife fans always love physical copies... Plus, doing some signed copies would have been also great, Shane did it and it helped a lot.
Just got out of a very exciting, long ass, milestone meeting about the album. Its really getting close...x
Just to let u know in case you are making plans,I won't be on the Pete Waterman show there was a misprint on the poster! Good luck to everyone on the bill x
Mark posted on his Facebook a little clip of him recording in the studio with the message: The beginning of the finishing touches. You can hear a bit of the new song
Writing out song lyrics for the album booklet, and he posted a pic of the song lyrics Find My Way - that is the same song he sang on that little clip in recording studio.
And later he also posted this: Recorded a million vocals today & still got more to go #mymouthslikegandhisflipflop PS.first time to direct a piano session today too! :-p
Do One Music Group that backs Mark posted today that all of this is done and decided: New video concept/director, shoot date, album is mastered and mixed, album sleeve is done and release date is decided.
'Butterfly' is such a great solid pop song! The live versions I've listened to at least.
I hope the big radio stations will pick it up, he needs airplay from the big ones and good promo. I know he's releasing under his own label so this doesn't help when it comes to big radios/promo but you never know. R1 Xtra played the Secaina Hudson remix of 'Love Is a Drug' once so maybe R1 could be next with 'Butterfly'. I know it's not easy but he deserves to do so much better.
There is this Wiwiblog that is crazy about Eurovision contest. After the show they make their own Eurovision contest for fun. Mark's Love Is A Drug represented Ireland and he WON by a huge margin - he had 448 points and Australia that was 2nd 329 points.
The result is a mixture of a jury vote and a public vote. The first 50% is awarded by 40 members of the Wiwi Jury in a manner similar to Eurovision, while the remaining points are allocated proportionally based on the reader poll.
This isn't a huge deal, but it is nice that people do support him. Most comments are that he is deserving winner:
Mark's album is called Fire and it will be released October 16th. Here is the tracklisting:
1 Love Is a Drug
2 Wash the Pain Away
3 Butterfly
4 Cut You Out
5 Sanctuary
6 Back to Yours
7 Sirens
8 Simple Love
9 Only You
10 Love Me, Or Leave Me Alone
11 Casablanca
12 The Fall (Bonus Track)
13 Find My Way (Bonus Track)
14 Tempest Love (Bonus Track)
15 Fire (Bonus Track)
And here is behind the scenes - making of the album:
I hope he release the same date with Shane to create some story.. somehow promotional strategy and marketing
They won't because we already know the release dates - Shane's comes out 25th of September and Mark's on 16th of October. Besides, it wouldn't do anything even if the albums were released the same day, that wouldn't make headlines because they are no Gary and Robbie - just stupid side notes on who is better solo artist based on chart postion.

Also, I think this is his best performance of the song yet, he didn't skip the higher notes like before, he felt comfortable enough to hit them.
Mark got praised on Twitter for the performance by Brian Mcfadden, Olly Murs and journalists Paul Martin Christian Guiltename:
Olly: Merci Monsieur x RT @ollyofficial: Mr @MarkusFeehily I'm absolutely loving your new song LOVE IS A DRUG!! Tuneeeeeeeeeeee sir!!👍🏻👍🏻
Brian: Great performance @MarkusFeehily on Sunday night at the palladium !!!! What a tune #loveisadrug

Christian: Watching @MarkusFeehily in #SundayNightAtThePalladium - that single Love Is a drug is song of the year! It's insane!
wow!!! appreciation
song of the year.. i hope he could have a lot more tv guesting especially in big tv shows, surely a lot more will appreciate this

The melody of the song sounds big like it is from Rat Pack era. it definitely sounds old school.

He said he will be announcing a release date for the album very soon. Looking forward to this release!
That's great! Has he announced 'Butterfly' is the second single then?
There may or may not be a subtle hint to what song it is in this picture. You wouldn't have to be Jessica Fletcher to figure it out.
