This is the type of behaviour by police that really needs to be consigned to history. I also noticed how the Human Rights Act was used in this case and hope if the Government replace it with a new bill it would be just as effective for issues such as this.

It's hard to believe that it only happened a couple of years ago. After all the fuss that had been made about making it easier for victims to come forward.
Could these officers be charged with pervefging thr course of justice?
A simple google search would show - not - unless they intended and acted to pervert the course of justice.
"The offence is committed where a person:
does an act (a positive act or series of acts is required; mere inaction is insufficient);
which has a tendency to pervert; and
which is intended to pervert the course of public justice.

Well done to her mum for lodging the complaint which led to this being investigated further.
Accusing someone of rape maliciously must be a nightmare, but accusing a rape victim of lying is equally devastating. She herself was attacked both by him and others. I think there needs to be a very clear distinction between accusers for whom there isn't enough evidence to pursue a case and those who have been proven to be liars.
