Well, apart from the one in 2012, it was literally years since the last storm in June.
It's not really a storm warning, it is a high liklihood but low impact event, windy with some heavy rain at times mainly Monday night. Unseasonable yes... but severe? Not really though it could bring down the odd branch or two in places as the trees are in full leaf.
But the Mail and/or Express will hype this up to the nines so expect a few "what was all the fuss about?" posts on DS on Tuesday.
Must have been quite a shock.
It was described by the Daily Mail as "a rare June storm", which tells you how seldom they occur.

After one round of June storms it can be up to twelve months before you get another one...
To be fair though, much as I hate to be fair to the Mail, it was a bit of a breezy squelchy day or two... I don't think tomorrow night (yellow warning) is currently forecast to be as bad as that (amber warnings).
