Jackson Browne co wrote "Take It Easy" with Glen Frey. Don't think it was a hit in the UK but believe it made the top 20 in the US for The Eagles.

Cathy Dennis has had a hand in a number of hit singles for others (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathy_Dennis#UK_and_US_number_1_compositions)

Also Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals has written a few I believe.

Neil Diamond wrote "I'm a Believer" recorded by The Monkees also "Red Red Wine" made famous by UB40.

Nik Kershaw wrote "The One And Only" - Chesney Hawkes. I'm surprised no one's mentioned that one so far.

Yes, Bowie actually wrote 'All the Young Dudes' for Mott The Hoople.
And 'A World Without Love' was a Lennon and McCartney Song made famous by Peter and Gordon.

Paul Anka, who had a string of hits in the 50s and early 60s wrote 'My Way' for Frank Sinatra

Apparently he had dinner with Frank who told him he was fed up of the business and was going to retire........so he wrote the song as though it was Frank's retirement speech......
