As I said on the actual article itself, although I dislike Rita hugely, I can understand why she's on the panel, because she's relevant in the music industry, has judged on shows before and so on. Cheryl (I dislike her too!) has this also, with the added advantage of knowing what it's like to be in the contestants' shoes, so I can understand why she's there.
But Nick? He's not a pop star, hasn't got a record label, nor managed any musical act before and has had NO experience in the music industry whatsoever other than playing music on the radio. Well, I play music on YouTube, so I guess I'll be a contender for X Factor 2016 if playing music is all the qualifications you need!
No charm or wit, very limited appeal. Imagine you were a talented alien who has just arrived on the planet and you decide to apply (I can't imagine anybody who has spent any time on this planet wanting to go on X Factor, hence the alien). You get through all the stages and then find your mentor is a self-obsessed name dropping idiot who is more interested in his air time than your development.
Yup, I loathe Grimbore. He's the final nail in the show's coffin for me, and no doubt for a lot of others.
I think Grimmy will be great - he's young and in with the in crowd, and knows what the young people like.
Does he????
I'm in my early 50's, but I work with young people (age 18 - 30) and NONE of them can stand him, and according to all of them they don't have any friends who like him either. They only have the Breakfast Show on Radio 1 on when he's on holiday! They're all baffled as to why he is being touted as some sort of "young persons favourite presenter".
Unless we're talking about really young people who are still in primary school??
Very poor choice for a judge and isn't even a good DJ. He loves himself so much and name drops all the time. Really think he is going to prove a turn off for a lot of viewers.
I think the revelation of this year's judging panel has sealed the deal for me on whether or not I'll be watching this year's show. Nick Grimshaw is so smug and self satisfied that I find him borderline repulsive. Rita Ora and Cheryl are too similar and insipid. And Simon is predictable. Plus Olly Murs, Caroline Flack, Rochelle and Melvin on the presenting panel?????????? It's like someone went out of their way to make my nightmare a reality.
Well Nick Grimshaw "successfully" (PMSL ) got rid of all the 30+ year olds from listening to Radio 1 and now has a much younger but ultimately much smaller audience. I thought it was hilarious how Radio 1 shamelessly justified it.
So does that mean Simon wants to get rid of all the 30+ year olds who watch X Factor. Just like the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, it could be set for disastrous viewing figures as more and more "more mature" people switch over to Strictly instead.
I'm not a big Strictly fan but even I watched more of Strictly last year than I did of X Factor. It's just a lot easier to watch X Factor on YouTube or on Sky+ so you can fast forward the adverts and all the other meaningless crap.
Well I no longer watch X Factor (I think the show itself is now rubbish), but I am on two minds about Grimmy. I do like him, he seems nice (showbiz like but nice), but I never thought of him to be right for the Breakfast show. This is one reason why I am not sure about him on XF. Reasons why he could be good is because he clearly knows the most about new music today, hence knowing what music is played on the radio, and he has a passion for it. Not just on daytime radio, but he often listens to specialist shows which play a lot of alternative music, Annie Mac being an example. He used to do specialist radio himself before getting the breakfast show, meaning he chose the tracks played (only playlisted tracks can be played on daytime). This could give him a idea what sort of act would be right for the industry and radio plays. He also said on his show that the reason why he is doing it is because he wants to find an act that can be played on the radio. Hopefully this means he won't be the new XF Clown, hence him also liking shitty artists like Miley Cyrus. Could this make him a good judge though? Who knows until we find out. I'll probably dip on the 1st episode just to see, I gave up after one part of the 1st episode last year, did watch the end of the final though (no idea why).
Could this increase ratings though? Probably not, hence the fact they seem to be aiming it for younger viewers this time round. Most songs in the singles chart are from Radio 1, which is also aimed at younger viewers. This is probably why XF are doing the same, so there is more of a chance any artists from the show will have a future. I wonder if that means if the guest singers in the results show will all be current and more reflecting of new music/Radio 1 music today, and no more legends performing (which seems to be the case mainly already last series, from what I read on wikipedia).

It's only a tv show!
Would be better than Grimshaw at least I guess.

90% of the reactions have been negative (based on Twitter, Facebook, DS and other polls).

To have Nick Grimshaw say 'you can't sing'. LOL
Good point, "Grimmy" is slightly less annoying than that strange boy.
