I love Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves etc...I'm mid 20s UK and none of the people I know have even heard of these artists

Kacey Musgraves is one of my favourite artists.
I personally really like The Band Perry.
That's got some good country music in it.
Definitely worth watching from the beginning if you like country music.
You like what you like :-) Breathe by Faith Hill is one of my favourite albums
Yes. They're at the Hydro in Glasgow on May 3
Even if you don't listen to Radio 2 generally, have you listened to Bob Harris' country show on the station on a Thursday between 7 and 8pm? (On radio iPlayer too). He plays those artists and many more all the time. The station also covers the Country Music Awards in a big way when it's on too.
It's great to have a wider musical taste than considered the "norm" for your age.
I was similarly embarrassed about country, (thought it was old folks music )Hank and Waylan , Gram Parson's ,Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee and Elvis taught me better, Plus Elvis Costello's Almost Blue, ,Panther Burns , Alex Chilton, Cramps, Townes van Zandt , I'll shut up now^_^
Not strictly speaking American country music though.
I would go for Waylon Jennings, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lucinda Williams, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson, The Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum...amongst others.
My Mum and Dad had that single, didn't seem much different to The Great Pretender when I was 5, no picture cover's at the time, couldn't be racist about music ,presumed Larry Williams was a white fella, didn't know
This. Seriously though embrace it and enjoy it! I love music none of my friends know of/like but I don't care I turn it up!
I quite like First Aid Kit
Love them
