So really the best deal for the broadcasters will be the cheaper, smaller one. You will get at least 2 home games a weekend even if it's a pool of only a certain number of teams v someone else.
Bad News Spanish Footy fans- La Liga is being sold to International markets without the games with Barca, Espanyol, Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad. Their games will be a separate deal, rumour is that Microsoft have the rights for the Barca games which has since been hotly denied. So you now have possibly a situation where more than one club can demand money to show their games on TV individually rather than as a whole league. Interesting! Full story is at SBS website: http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2015/06/24/laliga-bundle-international-tv-rights-without-barca
Without meaning to be pedantic, it's actually Telefonica who have struck the individual international TV rights deal with Barcelona, Espanyol, Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad.
Microsoft are rumoured to be interested in Real Madrid's international rights - they have a strategic partnership with the club and are currently running RM-themed adverts for their Microsoft Cloud service. I see some media sources are reporting that this will be happening, but it's been formally denied.
Really strange scenario - didn't Serie A clubs sell their domestic TV rights in a similar manner during the mid 2000s, which lead to numerous problems in the Italian pay-tv market?

But by far the biggest interest is in Real Madrid and Barcelona games - and the main package will have 75% of these - ie all RM games (except one - away to Barcelona) and 50% of Barcelona games (ie all away games).
Plus it will have all the games of the next most important teams - ie Athletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla - except in each case the one game away to Barcelona.
So I think by far the biggest interest will be in the main package.
But the rights fees will reflect the quality of the content.
Very odd situation - without Real and Barca the international rights are worthing effectively nothing, although I guess its not as bad if its just the home games.
The league's statement did allude to such a scenario but the meaning of it is not entirely clear.
In the case that LaLiga doesn’t have all the audiovisual rights for the 2015/16 season, it will negotiate the amount due to the clubs that do own the rights.

Indeed, both domestic and internationally.
La Liga is becoming somewhat of a laughing stock with regard to TV rights....
Am I right in thinking that if the worst happens, it will go back to normal the following season? I.e. all on the same channel like what we've had previously with Sky?
Fox Sports, which is only available on the Sky platform, has won the rights to broadcast La Liga in Italy. €15 million for the season according to reports.
What is Fox Sports?
How many sports channels does one platform need?
We don't have it in the UK, the poster was referring to the Italian TV rights. Fox Sports is one of the biggest brands around the world. They have loads of regional sports channels in the US plus two national networks in Fox Sports 1 & Fox Sports 2. They run sports channels across the world - it's the main network in Australia and massive in Asia. It's from the same cloth as Sky Sports.
I don't want those BT CLOWNS anywhere near La Liga!! If they get it we'll only see Real and Barca matches each weekend followed by an intelligent down the pub debate involving Savage and Owen about who's the best Messi or Ronaldo Zzzzzzz.

Hoping/praying Sky retain.
Seriously you are joking with that comment?
Correct me if im wrong but are Real Madrid and Barcelona not on virtually every weekend on Sky? followed then by a debate on Real Madrid or Barcelona every weekend?

if its true
I hope Sky revamp its live coverage
Scot Minto is a terrible presenter
Some of Sky's spanish football pundits are poor
More an article of conjecture than anything.
i personally hope BT get them because of how poor Sky's coverage is.

The deal means Fox will show Premier League, Bundesliga, Eredivisie, La Liga and the Europa League next season.

Is it only a one year option before they go into a new three year cycle?
Is the 'deal' including all of the teams or are Barca / Real sold seperately as was stated the other week?
Yes. Sky announced they had retained those rights several months ago.
Could there be any reason why they haven't been mentioned yet?
No, no way would you of missed it as no doubt it will be quite a topic of conservation for a while.

Clearly not as clear cut as we thought, who want's it the most?!
