The Horseman - A really gritty and brutal revenge flick, well worth a look if you like the genre

Yes, The Club is an excellent film. I've seen it twice, but the last time was about twenty years ago. Certainly deserves to be mentioned in this topic. Now off to find.

It was Boy in the Bush and Bodyline that got me interested in Australian cinema. Personal favourites:

The Year My Voice Broke (its sequel Flirting is equally good, but it didn't work for me)
    Gallipoli
    Picnic at Hanging Rock
Blue Murder (technically a mini series, but it was bundled as a feature film when I saw it)
    My Brilliant Career
    Breaker Morant
    The Tracker

    Not favourites, but worth watching:

    Dark City
    Proof
    Walkabout
    Death in Brunswick
    Lantana
    The Last Wave
    Wake in Fright (quite disturbing)
    Romper Stomper
    Japanese Story
They're a Weird Mob (a Powell and Pressburger film)
    The Proposition
    The Big Steal
    Beneath Clouds

I have to stop. There's just too many decent Australian films. :D

Surprised no ones mentioned probably the best war film set in Vietnam and certainly in the top 5 war films "The Odd Angry Shot" with a young (did he ever look young) Brian Brown

One of those films that seemed to be on telly fairly often when we were younger. Maybe it wasn't, but I've seen it more than once for sure. Cracking film.

The one that made a lasting impression on me was Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975).

I saw it as a young child during the summer heatwave of 1976. The mixture of the heat and the haunting dreamlike score made me feel like I was in the movie!

Maybe a good one to revisit now.

Animal Kingdom is on Film4 tonight (6th).

I've seen the start of it before about the Melbourne crime syndicate. It looks incredibly violent.Think i'll stay up to watch it.
